Tips and tricks please
So I've started my first prison (screenshot is linked) yet now ive only got around $8,000 left, and I dont think i have enough to keep escapes and riots from happening.

Can I get some tips on how to do better?

Edit: Also, how many drains per showerhead should i have, because I have one per and it still floods

normally one drain should do it but if your flooding the thing to do is build more drains prison wise i dont understand why you have built that corridor you dont have to and i dont reccomend it if your short on cash the best way to make cash is build workshops and assign prisoners to it and order in max sec prisoners as they bring in the most income but they cause more trouble if you need a boost ive made prisons that you can sell for a cash boost its called choas 366 max secuirty

No tricks, just practice.

As for tips, your best bet is to turn off prisoner intake (in the prisoners tab) and use the Planning tool to design out your prison.
Get all the grants and spend some time planning and building to fulfill the requirements.
Whle you're building, get research going. An accountant should be first after the Warden. Prison labor should be high on the list - it's your primary source of income.

And don't be afraid to start over again. It usually takes 4-6 prisons to get the hang of things.

Follow his advice, besides just plant some drains at the exit of the shower.

yea, chalked.up said more than i could :)

As for the shower and drains...don't think of it as a hole in the floor that absorbs water, think of it as a baracade. Imagine a 4x4 room, 1 shower head, 1 square wide entry way. If you put a drain in the center of the room it does nothing, the hallway floods. Put that same drain in the doorway and water will not move past it. anything you do not want to flood must have drains between it and the shower head. So if you have a 20x20 room with 1 shower head and want the room to stay dry, surround the shower head with drains.

Hope my rambling is understood ^_^' if not i can hunt for pictures as an example. :)

Original tip: Build slowly, no need to put foundation down for your whole prison, or build 50 cells the first day, take it slow and get a beginner workshop up after unlocking prison labor and deployment. That'll help keep the money flowing.

The only places you need to put drains in the showers are in front of the doors. All the rest you don't really need, so long as the doors are covered with drains it'll never flood out the prison.
