When you play "The Raven" it feels more like you are reading one of the Agatha Christie novels. And i mean it in a good sense. The gameplay itself is a classical adventure point-and-click, and the riddles aren't that hard either (because they are founded on the real-life logic and reason, unlike some other games where you need to replace the behemoth tooth with a blue parrot so that a UFO will descend to study the new life form so you can steal the screwdriver from little gray man to open the can of beans, ugh).
Personally i percive that game as a good interactive detective novel, and i have a feeling that the authors intended it to be exactly that. In which case they did a good job. For the fans of the classical XX century detective novels that game would be sitting around 9 out of 10, for others though it may feel kinda slow and boring. But you would not buy an adventure game with the title like "legacy of the master thief" if you are not a detective fan anyway, right? So rest assured the game will keep you entertained for a few evenings and good luck discovering the true face of the Raven.
