Sudeki Technical Issues
If you are having problems running the game, please provide the following information:

- Your PC Specifications (this can be obtained by typing "dxdiag" into the run prompt)
- A detailed description of what happens - both the proceeding steps and the result

We will then have a member of the dev team look into the issue and report back.

Thank-you for your patience.

********************************
EDIT: Am copying the below post here for convenience:

We have created a BETA build that everyone has access to. If you have been affected by the black screen bug it would be great if you could try this and report back.

While we've tested this on our office PC's, personal PC's, friends PC's etc. that still represents a very small subset of the myriad components, drivers and Window's versions that exist on everyone's PC's - so we'd like to make sure you are happy before we migrate this to the main build.

To access the beta, please follow these steps:

1) In your Steam client, go to the Library and right click on Sudeki
2) Select Properties from the menu
3) Select the Betas tab
4) Choose Beta for the Beta branch (if you want to opt out or revert back to the main release version, select "NONE")
5) Click close

If you then launch the game from your library, it should force the update. We've noticed it will occasionally need to launch the game, quit out and it will then force through the update.

The only difference between the main build and Beta build is the bug fix for the black screen issue.

********************************

Before the above fix was provided, the community provided workaround solutions. For the time being I'll leave the details of those workarounds below, just in case they prove useful to anyone:

********************************

Right click the game > properties > local files > browse local files. That will open up the game folder.

Go into "_commonRedist" and there is a "directX" and "vcredist" folder inside that.

Run the DXSETUP in the "directX" > "Jun2010" folder.

In "vcredist" > "2010" folder run either the vcredist_x64 or vcredist_x86 (I think depending on Win 7 64 bit or 32 bit but I would just run the vcredist_x86 application).

That will install the prerequisite directX version and Visual C versions that this game uses. Nearly every game uses a different build of those files and usually they install automatically when you first run the game. This one doesn't seem to run automatically. It is important not to cancel those steps in the games that require them. It only does it one time and then you should be able to run that game in the future without having to install that stuff again.

********************************

Right-click on the game in your library.
Select Properties
Select the “Local Files” tab
Choose the “Browse Local Files” option
Individually select the executable files and right-click on them, selecting properties
Choose the Compatability tab
Tick the “Run this program in compability mode for” box
Select Windows 98/ME from the list

Wow nice to get this from the devs.

When I run the game it makes it through the opening movies ok. After the final movie and right before the Sudeki title screen comes up, the screen goes black and stays that way.
I can not end task or anything I have to restart.
I should mention that at the very middle bottom of the screen in can see some faint color stripes, but the rest of the screen is black.

If I start the game in windows 98/me compatibility mode, it will get past this issue and load correctly. Its a pain though as 98 compat mode does not run the game in true full screen.

Thanks for looking into this.

Also I should add that compatibility mode has not fixed it for everyone here, but it did get it started for me.

The initial movie runs perfectly, game goes to a blank screen and I have to end process. I have run both the DXsetup and reinstalled VCredist. Game will not run in any compatibility mode for me with any admin settings. In fact if I use compatibility mode the "play" button from the launcher becomes dead.

Same problem as Kungfupanda. The movie runs, then when the Sudeki logo should pop up the screen is black, and at the bottom of the screen you can see the "logo". Have to open Task Manager and end the process. Tried the DirectX installation and VCredist but it didn't have any effect. Compatibility mode won't work.

I have a 120Hz screen and tried running the game on 60Hz mode and 120Hz mode. Both won't make a difference. Also unplugged my Xbox 360 controller and tried with M/KB but also had no effect. My specs are as following:

The only issue i have run into so far is a crash right when the battle with Farex Lore starts.

Thank-you for the information you have posted. It has been useful in narrowing down the problem, and i'll post again tomorrow to give an update on our progress.
speoples26 Feb 25, 2014 @ 7:14pm
I finally got the game to work by selecting Sudeki.exe and SudexiLauncher.exe and DXSETUP.exe and vcredist_x64.exe put them in compatibility mode of windows 98/ME!!! This worked for me and the game is up and running the first loading into the game does take a bit so be paitent. Hope this helps

The only thing I'm running into is when the games crashes while I try to save.
Climax Studios  [developer] Feb 26, 2014 @ 9:38am
Hello everyone, we have a fix for the "black screen" issue that some people have reported.

Thanks everyone.

I turned off all the compatability running win 98/me for the launchers and everything else and selected the beta option that was suggested and the game is running perfectly now. the only problem is that there is a border around the screen that takes away the full screen mode. nothing major
wsgroves Feb 26, 2014 @ 11:45am
I can confirm that the beta has fixed my problem. Compatibilty move off on this pc that had problems before and now it starts perfect. Thanks guys.
New just need a fix for switching weapons on the Aliah (sp) tutorial. Not working with 360 game pad, must use mouse to switch weapson.
Rudey Capone Feb 26, 2014 @ 12:12pm
Fixed the problem for me. Game runs perfectly fine now. Thank you Climax Studios for the fast fix! 2 days isn't a lot. That's something more companies can take account for. I can't wait to play this game again. I always played it at my neighbours, since I never owned an original Xbox. This game was amazing back then, and still will be I'm sure.
