Ever thought about being a ghost? Pass through walls, posses people, teleporting, making the T.V. go wild, things like this make it fun to be one. Of course, being a ghost has to be somewhat dark and taken seriously. After all, being a ghost means you’re dead.
Murdered Soul Suspect is a game where Ronan, a detective that follows a lead, dies but stays in this world as a ghost and the only thing that keeps him from finding peace is solving the case. The story is very noir like, despite the presence of modern objects, since the dark atmosphere and the mystery are the things that are unavoidable in this game. The plot is as it should be, clear, logic and ended with enough closure to make you realize what a good story it is. In a world where ghosts have many questions, where are mediums that can see that and a killer that hunts those people down, you are the one that provides the answers. There are ghosts that you can help find peace. There are collectibles that give you a lot of backstory on various topics and characters. There is one murderer that can’t be stopped still loose in this town. All of this is obvious throughout the game and that’s what will keep you hooked. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=412829954
Gameplay wise, the game is easy. To put it simply, you’ll take walks, find clues, conclude investigations with the correct solution, execute demons by taking them from behind and collecting stuff if you feel like it. To put it as it is, things are more complex than that, but not much more. In order to gain clues, you’ll need to look for them at the crime scene , you’ll need to interact with someone or something to find more, which sometimes mean possessing a person, influencing them to think about the topic you need or looking through their eyes. The things that present a challenge in this game are the demons, that are very much alike with the dementors. They’ll consume your soul if you are exposed to them for long enough. You can pass by them, or you can execute them by going behind them and using one of your ghostly abilities. Ronan can hide from them by possessing people or hiding in different entities. At the player disposal is also the ability to see the demon from afar, even through walls.Facing the demons are the stealthy section of the game, but they’re not frustrating enough to make the game challenging at all. For completitionists, there are a lot of collectibles to be found, which contain backstories of characters and places, or a separate story. They aren’t hard to be found and there are more than one good guides, so you could say it’s easy to get all the achievements. The town of Salem is beautiful, varied but after you explore it all, it feels like a small place. There is free roam until the last mission, but that is useful for those who want to get back to specific locations to get the rest of the collectibles. Also, if you see an NPC that looks interesting to you, you can posses him and hear what he thinks. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=412831624
Is the game a great one? No, it’s simply good. It lasts for about 10 hours, it has great concepts and executes them simply, which may be a fault for it, since many said about the game that it had great potential. Still, there’s no other game that can make you have fun for being a ghost like this one. Passing through walls, possessing people, talking with other ghosts, potterghasting different object to perturb the living ones, it’s all very enjoyable. The theme is dark, some details are gritty, it’s a game where you solve a mystery which has a solution that isn’t obvious at all(the plot-twists turned out to be mind-blowing).http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=412830626
All in all, Murdered Soul Suspect is a good game that delivers on what it describes itself to be and doesn’t take risks in being something more.
