Had high hopes. The no came mostly from the Linux version otherwise I'd just neutral on this. Considering the success I've other games lately on Linux, this one not working on any of Linux (Fedora) systems is a big disappointment.
I backed PA because of how much I enjoyed Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander. Graphics is not a high priority for me and when I reflect on how awesome TA ran so for the primary reason PA not working is problems with the game using the open source drivers, that feels at odds with how I'd have prioritized features. When wireframe boxes with an arrow is an improvement, there's problems.
Now I have played the game on Windows with all the latest drivers and updates. It's at most ok. Yay we can crash moons into planets but I'd give that up in a heartbeat to have it work on Linux. I wish I could write my own dumb UI with placeholder as a frontend to the game since it's kind of a local client/server model. Give me some protocol documentation (like that will ever happen). Maybe I should just take another look at Spring rather than dream any more about this.
As for gameplay since I should probably mention that in a game review, a tad confusing is how I'd describe it. Maybe I just need to finally learn all the hotkeys
You could probably just chaulk all this up to Alpha backer remorse.
Speaking of which, I hope someday to get my stuff:http://support.uberent.com/kb/faq.php?id=8

They've answered that question plenty in forums but the answer is always "soon".
