'tis quite crashy
I know it's an alpha, so no worries :)

I can't gain an advantage over my opponent even with a good economy, because once I build a lot of units my game invariably crashes out...how will that work with multiple planets?

Perhaps attack sooner? less units to crash the game that way....

Early aggression can work wonders.

I usually tend to build atleast 4 scouts at the start of the game, so I can scout and provide a mild form of aggression. The purpose of building scouts instead of going for straight tanks is that I'm not concerned with actually doing damage.

I'm more concerned with getting scouting information, and to possibly distract the commander in order to get an economic advantage. After that I can just focus on the part of the base that is the least defended and send some tanks there.

Early on 10 tanks can trash an entire base pretty fast.

I tend to go this route now, too. I do wonder what I will do once multiple planets are active...if everyone starts out on a different planet it may be necessary to build a bigger force before going elsewhere.
