Came back to check on this old game. Lmao @ the price again.
Just like I thought last year, it never released. It's not even in beta yet I don't think?

And if or when it does release, it will never be as big and hyped up as it was when they first put it out on early access for $90. When it was broken.

Now this game is just old news.
I'm sure the fanboys will stick around and play each other till they die. Probably because they don't want to feel stupid for paying that $90 on a broken product.
And of course they cling to their idea of helping developers. Who pretty much abandon every game they release if you look at their history. And by the looks of it, are about to do the same with this given the sales rank.

They made their cash, what drives them to finish now? Loyalty? lmao.
Someone sell me on it. Even at $60. lol
Because there was a time I wanted this thing. Just not the case anymore.

I think TotalBiscuit recently summed up the point I was trying to make so long ago.

I'll come back to check on it in another year.
Or I probably won't because other things will have my attention by then.
I already forgotten about it until I saw that vid.
I really think Early Access is destroying games that would have been great releases.
It's just sad.

Ok? And yes it is in beta. Final price will be 40$.

This is coming from the same people that ditched Monday Night Combat and also ditched Super Monday Night Combat (I enjoyed both games quite a bit and I am really disapointed). This game has been in development/early access for ages and still is not even close to a retail release.

Things are looking good!

I was going to address the points in your post, unfortunately my brain exploded with the sheer inability of "gamers" like yourself to understand the premise behind early access.

He seems to understand Early Access quite well, Uber Games has a bad reputation for not finishing their products and should not get special protection from criticism.
TotalBiscuit is a useless wee bawbag, so who cares what he has to say.

What is your purpose here? It seems like you came here solely to call us stupid fanboys involved in a game you think is a flop without even having played it yourself. Are you simply one of those fools who only knows how to jerk off their ego by insulting others?

You ought to know that it actually is in beta now, and that the final price is set to be at $40. As what one should expect from a beta, its gameplay is pretty solid but with just some rough edges.

They raised $2 million in their Kickstarter fund. I don't know how much it takes to fund a studio like Uber Entertainment, but I suspect it will take more than that, especially taking into account their ambitions. Planetary Annihilation is by no means a half♥♥♥♥♥♥♥game that's being made simply for a quick sell. An example of that would be Call of Duty. The notion that they would just take that money and run doesn't make any sense to someone who thinks even just one step ahead.

And what tendency do they have of abandoning games? SuperMNC was the only game Uberent has released that was abandoned. Heck, it's really the only major game they've produced so far! This is hardly a reason to discredit them. Nevertheless, the potential for abandonment is their, but that is the case for every early access or independent game. Part of what you pay for in these games is the risk that it might no do well. Given how satisfied I am of PA, it's a risk that I and others here are willing to take.

If you think taking that risk is stupid then, I don't know, go play Call of Duty or something.

I'll come back to check on it in another year.

Transitioning from thing to thing as if they are fads, unable to stick to something, is an immature habit that can only be excused in young hormonal teenagers. Assuming you are not in that category, I advise you to mature up.

So, it's not possible that people play a game because they like, even though you don't....no matter what they paid for it?

Why are you butthurt? It wasn't your money. You have no business telling anyone else what to like, buy or play.

Now, go back to your own planet...this one doesn't revolve around you.

If I am butt hurt over anything, it's that as a small developer myself in another area, I don't like how it's ok for us to take advantage of people. In particular kids. By selling them the idea of being a part of something.

Packaging up the creative process, or the illusion of it, and selling it with no obligation to deliver on it.
Just like modern day politics.
It's wrong.
It's a cesspool designed to breed corruption to the art of development.

What do I have to gain for an official release? The hype is gone, I will never make more money than the day it was announced Early Access.
I can essentially setup a game to fail from the start, pretend I'm interested and throw out promisses, make money on it knowing I will just run it into the ground, and laugh as I bankrupt the company and start another with the money I gained.
That is what you are really supporting.

This is down right false.Monday Night Combat and Outland Games were finished and released games. SMNC was never initended to be a "finished game" more like a free to play service. They had to stop updating SMNC due to funding. This is not uncommon. Name me games that are supported when they don't make money? Yeah I don't know of many myself.

Uber's rep is tarnished by false information. Just like most of the internet.
Robo Hobo Jan 20, 2014 @ 12:45pm
I actually wouldn't mind seeing SMNC come back.

I have watched the video and read the comments. I have to agree.
When does an Early Access turn into a complete game?
I bought a few 'Early Access' games and wonder. I'm not going to be buying any more Early Access games because I feel that paying full price for a developing game is just not worth the time and effort. I will 'eventually' loose some money at my own fault.

This is more about all Early Access in general not just this game, but I did check back to buy this game only to see that it is not complete yet.

Guess I will just wait to buy it when it is complete. Looks like a great game, but I can wait.

I agree with you when it comes to early access games in general, but I have to say that PA is an exception. It's progress has come along quite nicely. It's developers are veterans of the video game industry and not just some dudes in their basement making indie toys.

you guys are just brutal... if it was dead then why have we had 3 new builds in the last 30 days? Don't get me wrong it still needs work and for myself is WAAAAAYY to arcade/twitch based for an RTS (just played a 6 man game that ended in 30 mins) I am actually happy in the game as is for the time being my biggest gripe is there is no speed setting.
