Anyone else realise they put Sub commanders back into the game?

Better yet, how about some design beyond Diablo loot. First, drops should be separated into different "stacks" of mods and tech, with special items being subcoms and slots. Then they should be randomized by permutation rather than a fresh random die-roll every damn time (sick of getting compression tech 4x per game). Then each system should have some hint as to the category of reward when it's adjacent (*before* you have to commit to fighting). Then a player would have some choice and opportunity to seek out and fight for the upgrades they need.

Rules could also be introduced for trading upgrades for subcoms (say, two for one). Or maybe subcom systems are two opponents and you have to beat one for the other to join you (again, visible that this is either a tougher system, or explicity one with a second commander).

Well at least for that there is a mod: "Section of Research and Exploration" and another one "Section of Foreign Intelligence" to tell you about the enemies you will face in the system. So, as long as it is not officially in the game you can use those mods...

cool
Did you get them strait away though?

I got 1 roughly at the start and gradually got the rest before the last faction leader at the end, it was really good. Started again and got one before starting my first battle. I hope they include more factions and more planets and more units and buildings. And before that the save option. Here is hoping.

Saving could be dificult beacause the User may use it to his advantage
As in: Your Comms about to be Lazered- *HITS ESC- LOAD LAST SAVE
There your back at your previous save and now know where the enemy is
See how that could ruin the point?

Save abusing: making video games easy since (at least) 1986 (The Legend of Zelda).

Is this not the players decision to make? There are games that can be made ridiculously easy by using well known cheats, and yet there are people who play them without. If you want the challenge to play through the game without reloading at all, you can have that in every game - even those that allow you to save and reload whenever you want.

Good Point. The developers probably wont put it in though
