It is kind of related to Total Annihilation, which they did promote during development/kickstart.
They rather focussed on new gameplay elements, planets / haleyable moons / iron moon.. than trying to restore the original.
Planetary Annihilation has lost the scale and diversity of Total Annihilation in quite a big way.
But... if you do not really want a new TotalA.. It can be enjoyable.. but it is not a true sucessor.
It is best to see it is a different game with more or less the same story.
Free weekend, no.. dont expect on it
Yeah, I wasn't really into the game back then, i was more of a C&C kid, but i know the game was pretty good.
I do not like to strike blindly, so don't know wether they -could- take it.. but I am wondering wether it would be profitable.
The extra bandwidth against a certain percentage of new buyers.. I wonder how it would turn out.
If it would be up to me.. probably safest to wait a little bit. +-1/2 year (to update the game more / lose less players to possible problems).
Then a free weekend.. regardless of its reception.. I don't think free weekends work right after the start, because you might just as well lose potential buyers.
Is there anyone with experience about this?
