We need your opinion! (balance-wise questions).
So yeah - we've been reading all of the posts and all your opinions.
Looks like I'm unable to create a poll thread in this new forum system so it has to be done this way.

Today I have 4 questions for you guys - please motivate your answer.

1. Do you think that there's not enough money on the levels (means - do you think that the amount of money you get from the pickups is too low)?

2. What's wrong with the PDW (submachine gun)? Is the damage too low? Are the mags too short? Any opinions?

3. Is katana really this overpowered? If yes, why? Should we nerf it?

4. Are the katana combos overpowered? If yes, why do you think so. Should we nerf it?

1) money is fine getting all upgrades first playthrough is not necessary

2) it does seem to be a bit lacking damage wise but this might be accuracy related

3) katana is very powerful because its a viable weapon for all encounters personally i like it the way it is i dont want to be forced into using guns

4) not in my opinion

may i put forward a suggestion ?
have a monster spawn slider that allows you to increase the amount of monsters in the campaign.
crank the bloodbath up to a blood tsunami !

I guess it could be a tad bit higher as you can't obtain all the unlock in one single playthrough even if never buying ammo. Not that it's required by any means.

Damage could be a tad higher. I'm more conserned about the Flamethrower which has a very limited use, perhaps the damage of it could be buffed.
The gun i've used the least though is probably the shotgun, i feel that the reload could be quicker in order for it to be more attractive.

I think it could do with a very minor nerf, to further incentivise the use of guns. Not too much as i find the game kind of revolves around the excellent sword play.

I feel like that divider of heavens should not be the go to skill when it comes to dealing with berserkers, once you realise you can just hit them in the face they become a joke.

1. Enough, especially with skill upgrades. I don't believe you were meant to max out all guns in your first playthrough.
2. Mags are okay, but for being the only high-RoF weapon in the game, they do feel somewhat underpowered even with upgrades. Still my preferred method for crowd control though.
3. Hell no.
4. Hell no.

Don't go the nerf path, it brings only sadness.

1) could be a bit more, esp. since the upgrades for the RL are so expensive and it seems to be the weapon of choice for boss battles

2) it doesn't feel strong

3) please do NOT nerf it!

4) please do NOT nerf it! in fact some combos could be a bit more powerfull. or at least the powers could do a bit more than what they do now.

Oh god...please don't nerf the katana!!

1. I think it is fine personally. As others have said I will probably do multiple playthoughs so getting every single upgrade isn't essential, I think it makes you think more about what you pick.

2. Perhaps a little more damage would be useful, I don't think it is too bad. Mag size seems fine to me.

3. I LOVE that the Katana is strong, I think it would be a shame to nerf it as it has been the thing I have porbably enjoyed the most...so many games make you hit enemies over and over with blade weapons, I really like that if you judge it right you can dicapitate or target limbs really quick. Big no to a nerf from myself.

4. Pretty much same as above...only thing I could perhaps suggest is maybe having the combos drain some stamina? I don't mind how it is at the moment though to be honest.

As I said, please don't weaken the Katana, it is probably one of the best parts of the game.

If we are all doing suggestions as well here are mine...

As others have said I would really like an arena where I could fight wave after wave of the sword wielding guys (the ones you fight at the start of the game) Kill Bill style.

I also really wouldn't mind a benchmarking tool like Hard Reset has (*cough* and maybe a few performance improvements if possible *cough*)

Thanks for the hard work devs.

1. i searched all i could, but only on a 2nd EX playthrough did i finally have enough money to buy all upgrades. but there is enough money for the neccessary upgrades during your 1st playthrough.

2. some extra damage would be nice. even dual weild felt weak, it just chewed my ammo up faster, i felt single weild was stronger and ammo lasted longer.

3 + 4. i dont really use the katana so i have no opinion.

P.S. I always use the flamethrowers grenade attack thingy, it rules.

Don't touch the katana or else...

1. money isn't an issue

2. PDW is fine as it is.

3. The katana is perfectly fine the way it is.

4. combos are fine aswel, infact, i would love a second wing of crane that goes out vertical instead of regular horizontal.

would also love to see some sort of arena mode where you can fight your choice of enemies, i just love fighting the sword wielding humans, oh and perhaps a more advanced sword fighting system, the current advanced setting gives you little to no control over your swing.

1.) Yeah I think you could buff the money. I took luck pretty much right off the bat to increase money and I still gt $11-$20, Kinda feels like I wasted my karma points. I would like the progression to be a little more fluid, feels like to long of a gap between upgrading weapons in my own opinion.

2.) Submachine Guns seem fine, a little buff to damage would be nice.

3.) Yeah the Katana is over powered, do not nerf it in the slightest.

4.) The core gameplay is based around the Katana, it has range, it has extra abilitys guns do not, and there is a tradeoff, Guns allow you range and manuvrability where as the katana gives you more power, but less wiggle room as you are right ontop of your oponant. So the tradeoff is indeed fair. Plus if you Nerf the Katana people will use it less, because the guns would be better, I believe it is at a good balance.

I have two tiny suggestions myself.

First off I think the SS LMB attack (I am bad with the attack names, I believe it is wing of the crane, I could be wrong)seems a bit off when I use it. Always presses to the left of where I am aiming, I can and have compensated for it, but throwing it in a direct line (In tune with the crosshairs) would be more ideal.

Second, I love the Katana, it is fun and one of the best methods of First Person Slashing I have ever seen, and I kinda hate swapping out to shoot at an enemy while I close the gap. Sprinting and kicking seems to be to sluggish, I was thinking another Katana ability, like SW LMB to use Ki to rush your enemy and slash at them. As for balance purposes it can only work when vaguely aiming at an enemy so people wouldn't abuse it for a secondary sprint.

I think there could be a bit more since most guns are a bit underpowered unless you upgrade them. Even with the luck powerup you're not getting a lot.
I understand that if you got money for all upgrades it would leave nothing for EX playthough, but they have to be upgraded to match the katana...

They are fine IMO, as long as you get the acc. upgrade.

I don't think it is unless you upgrade it, with life leech and the powers it's insanely powerful.

The divider of heavens could probably be nerfed a bit. I tried not to use it so much because it felt cheap taking down someone in just a couple hits when they would take a lot of punishment from the guns. Maybe it would be better to boost the guns instead, as now most people seem to find them pointless.

1. I'm kind of partial on this. I feel like I don't find very much money, even with both upgrades, but as others have said it may be better off not getting all the upgrades on the first playthrough. I've only ever had to buy ammo around chapters 7 and 8 when I was having a bit of an ammo drought.

2. I think they're fine; they feel just slightly weak to me but I also don't have the damage upgrade. I think they'd be fine with that.

3/4. Without lifesteal, it's fine. With it, it's a little nuts. I feel like it removes the challenge a bit and you end up using the katana way more than the guns.

I think the only thing that really needs adjusted is the Flamer. I think a range boost would actually help it the most; I know it's not meant for long-range fighting but I really have to get point-blank to use it effectively.

I am only playing on hard at the moment but I think everythig is fine so far, I would more consider e buff for the Pistol, I think this weapon is somehow useless.
Cyrus Oct 1, 2013 @ 10:03am
1. I finished the game with about 4-5 upgrades missing and I only found about 60% of the statues overall,so it's not that bad,it felt fine for me but maybe a lot of players would appreciate 20-30% more money drops,or make finding the statues worth more money
2. the mags are fine, maybe the upgrade should give about 40% more damage instead of 25%
3/4. Don't dare to touch my sword!!! :D Yeah it's a bit OP with the lifesteal but it's nothing gamebreaking in my opinion and I feel that the sword is the center of the whole game so it's okay that it's a bit OP and as I said the lifesteal is fine,it's a much better alternative than spamming the heal
Divider of Heavens is fine, sometimes it didn't even oneshot simple crawlers on hard
However Wing of Crane feels a bit lacking in damage for me but maybe it's just because that's my favourite move, and is it was mentioned above by some the aim with it is really off because of that shaking,it's not frustrating or anything but maybe it could us a bit less shaking :D

oh yeah the Revolver could use a faster reload or a bigger cylinder

1. Money is fine, although I'm kinda a little disappointed that you can't upgrade everything in one playthrough.

2. PDW feels too weak even with akimbo upgrade, mag size is fine.

3. I'll say it's a little bit overpowered. In early stages before "Mother" type enemies spawn, I can use katana in every fights without shoot any bullet. Probably just nerf the damage a little bit or increase the wait times between each swipe or something.

4. Combo works fine.
