The Last Remnant.
One of the most underatted games of all time, and one of my favorite rpg's ever.
Originally released on Xbox 360 to mediocre reviews, yet if you played through the
terrible frame rate and texture issues then a true gem was waiting.
On the PC version you can enjoy the game with most of the technical issues resolved.
The battle system in this game is simply amazing, if you truly get into the game and face
some of the later bosses the wealth of depth and tactical choice is awesome. The
fighs are turn based but instaed of controlling individual characters you control different
squads consisting of numerous soldiers recrutted on your journey. As the game progresses
the squad limit rises with your level (Battle Rank) which means battles get bigger and better
the further you get. This leads to some epic, amazing and huge encounters.
The progression, story and side quests all fit into one of square enix's darker tales. While the
story isn't the greatest I've experienced in a JRPG it's still very good. I love the lore and history
of the game world. If you want to do all of the side quests there is well over 100 hrs of gameplay
(I must have at least 500 hrs on Xbox). It starts slow but stay with it.
To put into perspective how highly I rate this game here is my top 5 JRPG's (in no order 'top 5' was hard enough)
The Last Remnant
Dagon Quest - The Journey of the Cursed King (say no more)
Final Fantasy XII (yes 12, a masterpiece and way ahead of it's time in my humble opinion)
Grandia (my word what a game)
Persona 4 (sweeeeeet)
As you can see it joins some pretty good games on that list.
Word of advise if you are just starting the game- grind for an hour or so early on or the first true boss will
Thanks for reading.
