I really wanted to like this game i enjoy RPG's and i just finished playing valkyria chronicals and thought this looked like it could be fun. I was mistaken. This game sadly falls into number crunching your party members and hoping for random abilities or battle options to appear before the enemy gets thier opposing random actions or crits. I could be stuck on a battle for an hour and try all kinds of party adjustments, targeting and actions and in the end the battle would only turn out diffrently if i got a critical skill off before the enemy or was lucky enough to press a quick time button in a defense that killed an enemy party instead of just boinking them for 2 damage.
This game acts like theres some strategy but in the end, battles often just fall down to who crits a few times first or randoms some massive skill in their attack action. Whats to bad is the enemy doesn't need these things nearly as much as you do and the resulting "difficulty" that is associated with this game is nothing more then redoing a battle enough times until you get the magic combination of chances that result in a win.
Also the main charactor is a 5 year old in a teen body. Brash dumb and whiney dont make for a good main charactor. I can understand if hes supposed to be going through a charactor arc, but this kid is an ANNOYING and thoughtless husk. If your going to do childish to start, give me a Tidus style charactor. Young and naive but with somthing admirable so i dont begin the story by hating him.
Do yourself a favor and avoid this game unless you enjoy rolling dice once every 5 minutes and hoping for double 6's.
