Don't buy this game if you have a new computer.
I loved this game. Had to set everything to low quality but still enjoyed it on my old WinXP PC. Last week I purchased a Dell XPS 8500 with Win8 64bit, i5 CPU, 8GB RAM and GT640 and tried to enjoy the game again. It keeps crushing... It did crash on my old computer and I thought that was because of my outdated hardware. But now I know it's the game itself :(

Most old games work properly on my new PC as Supreme Commander. I don't know why this one can't. And I'm not planning to downgrade the NVDIA driver or other stupid thing for only one game. Now I'm playing it in Windowed mode so when it crashes, I can kill the game process without rebooting computer...

I have a mid range laptop and I played mine perfectly, I had to set my quality to low ish settings but I dumped 100 something hours into mine

Yes that's my point: you will enjoy the game on some computers but not on these newest ones :(

That is crazy, I dunno some games just have bad ports I guess. Like I can't even play borderlands 1 for any amount of time without it crashing and locking up my computer

yea same here, borderlands 1 and my windows 8 computer aren't friends.

You don't need to DOWNgrade your drivers but you may need to UPgrade them. It was the drivers in early January that had the issue. By the end of January, they were fine.

This based on your sample size of ONE computer? Plenty of people are playing this game on computers both new and old.

How long do you play before you crash? A few minutes? Half an hour? Or is it actually just freezing, not crashing?

Has nothing to do with a new pc it,s the os you are using windows 8

As Koek said, it's your OS, not your specs. I'm using a computer far superior to yours and having no problems, running windows 7.

Windows 8 is a pretty bad OS in general.

Windows 8 OS was battling against outside digital PC game sellers. If you didn't use GFWL then you would have a hard time getting a steam game or any other digital seller to work well. It was a bad decision (which is why valve is working with linux more) and now microsoft is in the process of back tracking the decisions they made for Windows 8. SO yeah, its probably your windows 8 and not your computer specs.

Just bought this game. Haven't played it yet. I have newer hardware but still using Win7. I'll report back if I have any problems. Might help determine if it's the hardware or the OS.

My brother got a brand new computer last week , a fast good one and it runs fine for him on Windows 7 , your problem is definetly windows 8.

Excuse me!? There are lots of people using Steam and Windows 8. Where did you get this information from??

Windows 8 is most likely the culprit delete that garbage and get windows 7. works fine on my laptop on windows 8 though so it might be your computer
