Be aware before you buy
This game is another poor console import.

It is completely unintuitive and overloaded with features. I have played this game for ~1 hour and not gotten any smarter. Everytime this game prompts me to press the controller "A" i am "wtf was what A again".

I feel i have no control over the combat scenes and i am just pressing buttons and hope it works. Maybe this will improve by playing alot more and learning the manual. But this is a big no-go for me. I want to get into a game, and not learn 2 pages of commands, that are called something else ingame.

Secondly the general story of the game is ridiculous. Mild Spoilers ahead (as i said 1 hour of gameplay).

Rush is an extreme simpleton. As expected from a JRPG, but to a level that it is... not funny anymore. Second... ofc i have generals to my exposal, but they are not stronger then a ~15 year old boy who got his first sword from a chest a few hours ago...

Oh and its totally logical that you send said boy out on a serach for his sister, a general under his command.

I dont know what to think, maybe if i am really bored i will try it again.

Actually, it's a rather well-done port. There have been ones with worse performance and bugs, and this port actually got major gameplay improvements over the XBOX version.

There is an option you're probably not seeing, which is admittedly poorly placed. In the options menu under the gamepad section is a button to switch the display to show keyboard prompts instead of gamepad prompts.

It does take a while to learn the ropes of combat. Rush does get better over time, and less reckless.

You know, complaing about the plot of game you barely played is kind of ridiculous.

Be Aware, Xbox 360 controllers remove 3/4's of the OP's complaints, and the story is above average JRPG Cliche's, but there's a reason cliches exist (they work!)

Agreed. I'm two hours in and really enjoying the game. Admittedly, when the flashing up (while in battle) of the A or X etc buttons throws you at first but once you know that potentially can come up to unlock better attacks while battling monsters, you become more aware of it and a bit more ready! Once you get more into the game and Rush learns more moves and you battle against tougher monsters, battles become more interesting and you have to think about your line of attack rather than just pressing random attacks. Certain monsters are only weakened moreso by certain attack modes whereas others do very little against them

I think it is worth you giving the game another try. I personally am finding it enjoyable at the minute!

Now see, this is a fairly good "I don't like it" thread.

The GUI portion of the port isn't well done. How many games do you know where you can't use the mouse on the main menu? I haven't seen that since the DOS days! Lots of people miss that the prompts can be changed to keyboard and what's with that "turbo" option being on the screen all the time? Couldn't they have put that in the options??

HOWEVER, while the interface was poorly ported, the game itself is WAY above average. They rebalanced the entire game, made changes in how you build squads, incorperated all the DLC into the game, and even added a few new things to the game! (See the full details on the Wikia[lastremnant.wikia.com] site.)

The teenage empowerment thing is a common deal in JRPGs and they've never worked for me at all. However, I'm not so sure Rush really is leading diddly squat. They talk like he is in the early hours but YOU are the one that's really leading everyone. You're free to bench that little upstart and set David down right next to him, too. Still, I get the drift and it's a valid point.

I'm not sure what the "two pages of commands that are called something else in-game" business is about.

I highly recommend a controller for this game. Albeit a port it's designed fairly nice to be honest. The story is about what I would expect a JRPG to be. Game-play and the large variety of customization is fantastical.

Many of the OP's complaints stem from personal issues. Such as not properly configuring his options.

Jade Empire is probably the worst console port on Steam. I've been trying to get Jade Empire to start but it just won't.

I have a small question, it's a little off-topic.
Is it only me or is there no "load save" option while in combat? I mean if im fighting and im clearly loosing I would want to load and try again. But instead I have to either restart the game or simply die to be able to load game.

There doesn't seem to be which is why I make my own save. I save often so if anything I can go back and load my own save and not necessarily rely on the auto-save. Which in some cases has been better than where the game decided to save in the first place. Saves me a bit of bother if I fluff up in battle!

The game includes a "Soft Reset" key binding that you can look up in the keybindings section of the settings. This returns you to the main menu from any point in the game (from which you could load a save game). It defaults to the following for the keyboard: CTRL + ALT + SHIFT + R
