Runs on my Win7 64 - nostalgia is a powerful engine. I'm not sure I've gotten any better at it over the years, either.

@elbeasto: Try installing one of these source ports if it doesn't work: http://fps.maros.pri.ee/index.php?event=610

Yeah, it runs flawlessly on Win 7 x64, just be sure to apply
- Ultimate Quake 2 patch : (I use tihs one, plus it adds all the music to the game)

the Unofficial Quake 2 Patch 3.24 : (I think it does not add the soundtrack)

Use the first patch, add the destination folder for Quake 2 (it will give a different route, so you'll have to Browse your Quake 2 folder. In my case it was " C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\Steamapps\Common\Quake 2 ", which is funny cause I do not even have a Steam directory anywhere else besides my D drive, so I had to Browse " D:\Program Files\Steam\Steamapps\Common\Quake 2 ", apply the patch, then I was able to run it and modify a tons of things when I've loaded up the game.
I hope this will help.
Have a nice day and happy fraggin'.

PS. It is good to see that many of us are still playing these old id/Raven titles, like DOOM, Heretic, Hexen and Quake. Such joy to my old gamer heart.

I wish there was a patch that adds just the music, not laggy effects. (Seriously, I installed the Q2 Patch, then when I was in-game, I fired 3 shots from the Blaster and it reduced the framerate to 1 FPS.)
i updated the AMD drivers and now both old quake and doom games works perfect!
