Dear Company of Heroes 2
Tomorrow the March Deployment for COH 2
A Deployment is the name the team has chosen for releases that focus on responding to community feedback and improving the player experience - which usually take the form of balance and meta-game tuning and general bug fixes. Themed updates, such as The Turning Point and The Aftermath, will continue to be used for releases with a broader focus which will introduce new playable content, in addition to feature improvements, balance tuning and bug fixes.
This will be our nineteenth software release since launch, which is a testament to the amount of work that the team continues to put into the game. I know you expect a lot from us and we will continue to strive to improve to meet and exceed those expectations. We made a commitment to our fans to support the franchise post launch and we intend to keep that promise.
With that being said, the March Deployment introduces the most substantial overhaul to how Company of Heroes 2
is played since launch. The Design team have been monitoring the forums and social sites, playing the live game and working with the beta community to improve the core game experience.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the community for providing a constant stream of feedback and ideas for improving the game – whatever form that may come in, it shows you care… and we love that! It’s our job to interpret, dissect and filter that feedback and ultimately turn it into a set of relevant changes that improve the experience for the entire community.
To help move things along, we’ve created a video (above) to highlight the overall intentions behind the changes. Tomorrow, Balance Designer Peter Qumsieh will publish a blog post that goes in-depth on both how this will change the way you play CoH2, and why this is important step forwards for the franchise. Though nothing will replace loading up the game and checking the changes out for yourself!
Don’t forget that on March 28th at 3 PM GMT (8 AM PST) CoH2
Director Quinn Duffy and I will be speaking at the Rezzed conference about both the past, present and future of the Company of Heroes franchise. Watch the stream live on the Rezzed Twitch feed: http://www.twitch.tv/egx
