This is one of those bad games that I personally enjoyed for some reason. And I do mean bad.
First up, the price. I got it on sale for $4 USD, do NOT pay more than that.
Second, I've noticed a silly argument on it being based on a book series vs. ripping off a movie series. It is based off a book series that also happened to inspire Indiana Jones (some), BUT it also does borrow from Indiana Jones. It doesn't "rip it off" but it directly references Indiana Jones on multiple occasions and clearly draws inspiration from the movies. Which isn't a bad thing! It is based on the book series but also inspired by Indiana. I just don't even know why its a discussion but it is, and I just kept it going haha.
LOTS more bad stuff; Graphical glitches, frame rate drops, downright silly character animations, plot holes, plot jumps, invisible walls, places to get stuck, clunky puzzles to get to areas our adventurer could clearly just leap or climb to, mindless AI, and more I can't recall. But worst of all is the silly saving system. Checkpoints that activate after killing certain enemies or triggering certain puzzles. Rather annoying on a game with hidden side treasures and traps that insta-kill. Upon death it reloads you to the checkpoint and you gotta get all the side stuff again. There just happened to be a few long distances with high chances of death between a few checkpoints that made this a fatal flaw but for the most part the checkpoints do come often enough. Another time I killed a boss with minions still running about and it triggered a cutscene that when over had me standing right in the middle of the surviving minions. You can read all the negative reviews that elaborate on all the problems and more I didn't mention.
I guess I should mention that despite the bad animations, graphical glitches, and frame rate drops, this game does look pretty damn good overall. And then also, I only play single player games and didn't even attempt the multiplayer.
In the end though, I had fun. I really did. This game has some sort of weird charm to it that got ahold of me. Maybe it was the over the top adventure, or the cheesy one-liners, or the puzzles that actually took thought, or a little bit of all of it. It was a fun casual game that took just over 8hrs to complete. I just simply had fun. And you might too! (If the price is right of course!)
