I really wanted to like this game. I love the environment, the ambient music is cool and the stylistic choice of having the player rely on experimentation instead of giving you lots of direction reminds me of other games I really enjoyed like FarSky and Sword & Sworcery.
However, the controls are atrocious. WASD moves your character, but the big issue is you can't look around with your mouse. Instead, your mouse controls a giant moon in the sky that functions like a map to find things. You can only see this moon from certain points on the planet you are on and only facing in certain directions, so you basically have to give it a shot in the dark to find anything.
There is nothing more frustrating in a game than knowing what you are supposed to do, but not being able to do it because the design of the game sucks.
This method of exploration ruins what is probably an otherwise really cool experience.
I once went back and played Turok on the N64, only to find the controls feel really, really dated by now. This game isn't very old, but the controls feel worse than that.
Shame. That cockpit had me all excited. I was really hoping for more.
