Clicking "Play" through Steam doesn't work? Try deleting user data/redownloading it…

I have the same issue, so I plugged in my 360 controller and then I could select things. Hit start act one, and the screen just flickered. Can't figure out whats wrong.

edit: figured it out, bitdefender was blocking it for some reason.
