Anyone know if my Cities XL (first edition) Lifetime edition is any good?
I foolishly bought it back then when the game freshly started because, gods forbid, I REALLY enjoyed it. To be frank, I found it to be more enjoyable than Sim City is these days. But then the servers shut down and everything went to oblivion.

Did anything happen that might help me or am I still the proud owner on a overpriced paperweight? :/

Well, having the lifetime edition is always a bit unique, but as you said it doesn't give you an advantage.

I played the beta and bought the regular edition and I really enjoyed it aswell. Also played a lot of Sim City 4 at that, but i really prefered CXL.

The new editions give you some more buildings/maps/roadstyles (US, Germany, UK), more Public Transport. But that's basically what they contain. I would buy them as upgrade if they are really cheap.

Just keep the boxed lifetime version like a trophy.

Your first version of XL was developed and distributed by Montecristo, that yet not exist. The newest versions have new developers and distributors (Focus).
