try this
verify game cache
if that does not work
uninstall c/c++ runtime 2005
then goto microsoft and get and install c/c++ runtime 2005 32-bit
then goto microsoft and get and install c/c++ runtime 2005 32-bit updates
if that does not work
run command prompt as admin and run
sfc /scannow
if it verifies and that does not work try this
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/vcomp-dll-not-found-missing-error.htm
if that does not work
make sure windows is fully up to date by running windows update
if that does not work
then open the last log file in
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Focus Home Interactive\Cities XL 2012\log
and post the very last error
also open the windows application and system event logs and post any releated warning/error
and post what version, release, edition of windows you have
and open an command prompt and enter
path
and post your path
manually download/install the following redists:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3387
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26347
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26368
(in all cases, the vcredist_x86.exe one)
(make sure you get 32-bit ones the games use 32 bit even when you have 64-bit os)
then reboot.
once you get it working check out xlnation.net its packed with hundreds of amazing addons for this game and over 40,000 members!
i would install all the c/c++ runtime 32bit and 64 bit its one of them
if you google vcomp.dll missing error you find they all say to install a different version of c/c++ runtime. so the one the game is looking for the one your system is refering is either bad or missing or the path to it is corrupt or incessible
by the way run a chksk /f as admin on c: and if you have multiple drives on the drive the game is installed on, you may need to reboot
it could be simply you have errors in your file system or in acls and cant access the vcomp.dll
so you may want to do a search for vcomp.dll and make sure you can access all of them and that they have the correct access rights.
windows keeps a bunch of them in
c:\windows
c:\program files
c:\program files (x86)
users should be able to read and execute
sadly windows has a very bad design flaw called side by side which was done in an attempt to deal with dll hell bad which was another very bad design flaw with earlier windows and still is. andwyas they have this directory called WinSxS in c:\windows which contains mostly hard references to dlls, sadly windows explorer does not show real files and hard links differently, well as far as i remember anyways.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Side-by-side_assembly
sadly when something goes bad there its hard to fix. also windows has references in the registry when something goes bad there or the reference dont match the file. guess what their installer just goes to the registry checks if you have the correct version and then stops. the morons never check to see if the file system matches. just watch the registry reference hash is.
so to resolve this you have to uninstall the thing, run a registry cleaner to remove the now bad reference, and then run an installer and then do all patches. its a nightmare.
also keep in mind that windows also keeps shadow copy of important files like this so deleting them does not always delete them. you have to delete them and then delete the shadow copies. else window will put back the file. so if the file is bad and the shadow copy is bad you have issues. normally you have to go to safe mode and delete them both. and dont forget the registry reference since their installer is broken. sadly microsoft knows this but does not fix it. its a nightmare for developers who run into trouble with visual studio and then its nearly impossible to cleanup. well unless you want to spend days manually cleaning the registry and the file system and the shadow file system. easier to just reinstall the box from scratch and install everything from scratch and applay all the updates from scratch. just google issues with visual studio and installer. mostly due to bad download of components during installation or update. its a nightmare
