cities > simcity
i think this game is better than simcity but this game needs multicore support. it only uses 1 core i heard.

most game out there run the game logic on a single core. even simcity runs the game logic on a single core. mostly related to the interpreted scripting languages that dont support native threading that most games game logic is written in. i know it sucks, but its not going to be changed for most of the game industry. even the newest game engines out there dont really support native multithreading in their interfaces. sure you can write your own code and do native multithreading using the os support, but the minute you interface with the game engine or the game engine with you its has to go through some single threaded code. plus people who write game logic for games are not the type of folk you want writting multithreaded code, they just dont have the background. worse the resultant code will not port easily to like consoles and other platforms that dont have or use different multithreading api...

you're right, but cities xl is very heavy game with its graphics, codes and it occurs collapse and slowdown. they have to develop their codes a bit lightweight or more native i think. if you play 3-5 hours without interruption, the game freezes well.

already, i love this game too but it freezes when you develop your city well

Sim City 4 is still the best, followed by Sim City 2000, mostly for nostalgia reasons.

Sim City Scam doesn't count.

I gotta say, I loved simcity 4, played so many hundreds of hours, built up full regions, very amazing, loved trading (buggy but alright), loved the control, but missed the 3d rollin scrollin. I got Cities XL, cause i needed something different, the devs were not wrong in saying it requires some tact to build ure cities up to full map, pretty much just as hard as simcity4, if not harder. Im finding it difficult to keep the damn jackasses happy, all the leisure buildings i have and their only satisfied at best #@$!#@$@!!!!! Both games have there flaws and strengths. But I think the mega city on one map is hardest, you could see it on city4 with the quad maps (largest) could be quite tricky and difficult but mega rewarding! ♥♥♥♥ simcity5 and its bull ♥♥♥♥ mini maps.

simcity 2013 has just only two disadvantages for me,
1st is ea with origin
2nd is minimaps
but it would be the best if the disadvantages haven't exist i think.

Ya I don't see why people are so hard on the new Simcity.. Just because they've decided to not play it suddenly it becomes the worst game ever created.. After all the patches it's become a very good city builder. I still wish it were optimized further though.

except you can only build a village and not a city.

she is right too, multiplayer is better than singleplayer.

I agree that the cities are too small in Simcity, and also the game is quite poorly optimized;
but i just don't see how people can call it a 'bait and switch.'

I've played 120+ hours, the majority of that shortly after the game released, meaning
before it was properly patched, and i never felt i was receiving anything other than
what i thought it was gonna be.

Excpet for the fact, the core reason they developed SimCity with small cities in mind, was so that multiple cities would work together in a region, but guess what, the cities are completely unable to work together, forcing everyone to try and fit a city that covers all industries into a small place. At this point, they STILL haven't fixed it, and they have no idea when they will get to it. Their core concept of the game is broken, and they still have not fixed? That's a huge probem.

At least they have DLC and Expansions though!
