Is it worth it? Seems the game has it's fair share of problems at first glance of the forums.

If you don't mind only enjoying the first hour or so of the game. Sure. The game's performance is a mess.
BDK 28 พ.ย. 2013 @ 6:39pm
Never worked for me. Crash on startup or the in-game menus are bugged out.
I'm gonna go ahead and say it's not worth it.

it has memory leaks problems. in the late and mid game it is unplayable due to lags (even on top gaming config) due to memory leaks problem + it is not optimized for multicore, it is single threaded.
The doctor is in 28 พ.ย. 2013 @ 8:18pm
yes its well worth it

there is no memory leak/lag...

it is a misunderstanding of what is happening...

cpu utilization and memory usage increases and framerate decreases with size and complexity of cities

sort of makes sense yet people like to call it lag and memory leak...

re: single threaded/multithreaded

most games out there, including the latest most modern video games, including simcity 2013 run the game logic off a single thread that runs off a single core.

with this game unlike simcity 2013 you will be able to create truely large sized and extremely complex cities far larger than any averaged sized real world city...

Well you seem to want to be really smart and wise here while you're not exactly correct yourself and you don't make any proper argument to get the game.

To begin with, you still probably shouldn't purchase this game. It has huge frame rate issues as your city begins to grow. That is a massive issue in a game like this.

Secondly, I don't know where you got your figures from but most modern games use at least two cores. I think you mean most games don't support hyperthreading... Pretty much every game in the last 3/4 years has supported at the very least dual cores. BF3, the last 3/4 Call of Duties, Farcry 3, Skyrim, Crysis 1/2/3, RAGE.

I don't know if it's true that this only runs off one core, but if that's the case this game is a joke. What a stupid move on the developers part. This is EXACTLY the type of game you want to have utilizing a CPU's full power.

i have previous version, but in new version they made no fixes to old problems.

Basically when i have reached population around 1000-2000 it started to get slower with growth of population. And my config is pretty good one, core i5 3210m 2,6ghz (turbo ~2.8 to 3.0 ghz), 8 gb ddr3 1600mhz, gpu nvidia 630m.

Other people who have a top gaming configurations(core i7 , top GPU and etc) reported when they reach certain level of population ~ 50k it is unplayable.

EDIT: updated numbers

I bought it before it got a ♥♥♥♥ load of discount.
And it's just too complicated for me.

I'm so bad at balancing the demand of industrialization.
I suck at trading part in this game as well and it kept draining my funds in every city.
Hell, in sum, I have zero talents of constructing a city.
You can give it a try if you are good at it.

I still think It's a great game despite the problems mentioned by others.
Oh, and citizens in this game look weird.
Just so you know.

Game become laggy for me, when it reach the population near 50000 and more. And for some reason, it didn't use second core of my amd athlon 64 x2 Dual core 6000. I can say that's not only me having issue with that, so if you have realy good cpu, you mabe wanna buy it, Overall game is good except it technical side.

That is rather unfortunate. I guess in a sense it isn't worth it then as the whole point is to build a big and intricate city, which gets negated by the fact that you can't do that because of performance issues, thanks for the feedback guys!

I may go the Arrghh route and see how well it performs and if things are ok for me pick it up during the new years sale.

i never said it only runs on a single core. i said the game logic runs in a single thread and thus on a single core. but that is true for most games...

sure as the city grows in size and complexity it will take more time to process the datastructures... i mean that is sort of obvious. nothing that can be easily done about it. get a faster core to run the game logic thread... intel cores easily beat amd cores...

also i and others have posted things that could make things a little better....

the list of games you cite BF3, the last 3/4 Call of Duties, Farcry 3, Skyrim, Crysis 1/2/3, RAGE. are very different types of games. they do not have realtime simulation of city going on. try comparing this game to other city builders and how they behave and are written.

also you can't compare the engines used by AAA multi billion dollar games from multibillion dollar companies with the engine you are going to get from indie game developers...

still even simcity 2013 and earlier have same issues or worse with regards to having game logic all running basically in a single thread.

sure the game is also using other threads that could run on other cores for other things, but im talking about the lua game logic. similar to the lua game logic in civilization series and the javascript game logic in simcity 2013

and how do i know so much you ask ,well ive spent many many many years at it... including working on mods/ modding oriented tools for this game...

I didn't say they were written the same way... Obviously it's more complicated, but if their developers aren't capable of dealing with it then they need to go make a different game.

It's not about the processor being too slow, it's that the game isn't made well to use the full power. I have an Intel i7 2.00GHz, the game runs like trash. My CPU isn't overclocked and it isn't very top of the line, but I'd say it's average if not somewhat above average. I can excuse a bit of trouble because this probably isn't hyperthreaded, but to be having massive FPS drops an hour into the game?

None of those games were multibillion. In fact, I don't think any game has had a billion dollars let alone multiple billions put into development.

Also, why can't I? Just because this is indie doesn't mean it can't be a quality game? And just being indie doesn't excuse poor coding. Again, if you're not capable of providing a quality game then don't make one and try to jip people's money.

ok NO ONE IS AWNSERING MY QUESTION SO I HAVE TO ASK HERE!I started playing this last night and i played for about 25 mins but i had to go to bed and when i woke up in the morning and i started it up all i got was a black screen (but the audio was still working) and i was really sad and i have seen "The doctor is in" person up there answering quesions about this game all over the internet and i dont know if you work for them or if you really really know how to do all this but please PM me. also thats why i sent you a friend request.

Weird. My digital copy works fine.
sedna16 30 พ.ย. 2013 @ 2:27am
Its been more than 4 hours for me, I've only experience a bug in the tutorial, overall I think the game is fine.

I think this game is incredible! I made it to 150k with little lag.. I'll be honest, when I first made it to 100k pop I started to lag pretty bad. I got out of the game.. entered the city a day later and it was perfect.. Made it to 150k with barely any lag.. Stopped playing, got back in.. It worked perfect again! Restarting the game seems to rid any lag from high amounts of people
