Missing Music image download
Since I own an original copy of Quake (Quake: The Offering) and addons I felt sorry for those who can't hear the music because steam has no form of Red Book emulator.

So what I did was make a image of my CD's and strip the data track of it's contents (and replaced with a ReadMe.txt with notes and usage of the image).

Ogg versions now available (I recommend http://icculus.org/twilight/darkplaces/]Darkplaces (QuakeSpasm also supports ogg)).

{LINK REMOVED} (extract to "quake\Id1\sound\cdtracks" (create folders where necessary)).

Quake: The Offering version:
{LINK REMOVED} (extract to "quake\rogue\sound\cdtracks" and "quake\hipnotic\sound\cdtracks" (create folders where necessary)).

Original separate versions:
{LINK REMOVED} (extract to "quake\hipnotic\sound\cdtracks" (create folders where necessary)).
{LINK REMOVED} (extract to "quake\rogue\sound\cdtracks" (create folders where necessary)).

CD images:
BTsync : https://link.getsync.com/#f=Quake%20soundtrack%20CD%20image&sz=52E7&t=2&s=AQ3A3OLS47RM53Q2V6UH6YRR4QDSQGX3W2TCRPQDRMS2V2TCMGDQ&i=COVRM5V7MMRNNOCJX2C23JADRO6E7A4MV&v=2.0

Quake + Dissolution of Eternity (Quake The Offering version)[dl.dropbox.com]

For those who don't have a CD emulator.
DAEMON Tools Lite[www.daemon-tools.cc]

**Update 04-29-2015**
Added BTsync link for the CD image of Quake the Offering (Quake + Mission packs).

**Update 04-18-2014**
Ogg soundtrack from the original release of Quake mission packs 1 & 2 have been added since the one on Quake: The Offering is arranged differently.

**Update 03-08-2014**
Added BTsync key for the ogg soundtrack since Steam is filtering dropbox and google drive links (you can still use the dropbox and google drive links by quoting this post to reveal them).

It's because Steam doesn't have any sort of virtual Redbook audio system. It's possible if they did that - GameTap did it a long time ago when they had Redbook games like Interstate '76 up on there.

it's not id software's fault that they didn't forsee the abandoning of redbook cd audio in 1996, especially the OS-level regressions from Vista, 7 and 8.

Awesome! I have the original Quake, but my DVD driver it's not working anymore. Waiting for Dropbox drops the"509" error. Too much traffic. =P

While I think ID Software did an amazing job designing Quake I, it seems a bit lazy of the company to sell the game on Steam without taking the redbook audio soundtrack, compressing it into Flac files, and re-coding the game so that it automatically plays the compressed music instead of looking for music on an optical disc. Considering how far free, unofficial launchers have taken the game, it couldn't be THAT hard for ID Software to fix the audio for its Steam customers...

Thanks for the information! Am real excited i finally got a STEAM version of QUAKE since the original cd version i got way back in 1996 is a bit of a pain to get working right off the bat. So i was a bit disappointed the music wasnt there in the STEAM version as great as the ambient and other sound effects are on their own. Cheers and happy fragging :)

Does this work? I'm trying to decide whether or not to rebuy this on Steam or just keep going through the hassle of installing from cd.
