Before I Buy quake again, i want to ask is there a multiplayer community?? Do alot of people play online?

This was the first true geat online shooter, it was so cool on windows 95 I think. Steam verson works perfect on Win 8.1 x 64 hmmm

You will find about 5 to 10 players playing at least once every other day or so. If you want help to know addresses to servers, and knowing if it even has players in it. Check both of these links then.

http://www.quakeservers.net/quake/servers/ = QuakeServer, this site is not updated as much as it should be, but it allows you to see some players in a server.

http://quakeone.com/ = Quakeone, This site is constantly active at the forums. And amazing place for its modding community. On the very right side of the site, you will see a more updated server list that also gets more servers added by the admins everytime someone list one. Which is really nice.

well if anyone has it in them to assist I would be happy to roll some server space out... maybe a quake 1/2/3 arrangement... I run a hosting provider with my own (owned) servers etc, POP's in Amsterdam, New York and Hong Kong... so I think from that we can put together a league table... if anyone is interested to help make that a reality I would be interested to play myself too!

If people are sufficiently interested to make it work, I have no problem with it... there are a few versions of TF though, so needs some thought which version will be played (Quake based / and version, HL based, / and version etc)

Have any of you tried adding mods, like Shrak? That would be the only reason to go back to Quake for me...

mods are the reason quake is still going... even TF first began on Quake (before it went to HalfLife engine).. I am a big fan of mods and want to try as many as I can... but i cant live without the grappling hook!

Yes. PEOPLE still do play Quake. Please check out www.quakeone.com , Make an account and join the fun. We have a full server list on the site as well. I run 7 server's for Multiplayer quake.
