Is it possible to upgrade SE version to 2.0?
Hi - I wanted to know whether its possible to upgrade the SE version to 2.0 at the 99 EUR upgrade fee - or whether I should wait until more details have become available regarding 2.0 on Steam.

I wanted to ask that same question too! But you already asked it haha =p Hopefully the developers respond to this post (which they usually reply which I like) and tell us the details.

A lot of these questions are in the Articy Draft FAQ up top. This was the #2 question asked and explained there. The questions below it(3 and 4) explain when and how so here you go:

Question 2: Will articy:draft SE receive any updates?

articy:draft SE includes all the updates of the past year (1.1 through 1.5) and it is a pretty "round" package. It will stay on Steam “as is”, unless there are bugs to be fixed. We’ll continuously improve articy:draft, and we’re planning to also make features of the upcoming versions 2.0 to 2.x available on Steam. But to be able to maintain the attractive price tag of the SE base version, we’ll put those in separate packages. This gives you the flexibility to pick the articy:draft experience and feature scope that you need for your project.

Question 3: When will articy:draft 2 be released?

articy:draft 2 will be released in April 2013, exclusively through our website at first. New features introduced by the 2.x versions will eventually also come to Steam when integration with the Steam framework is done and we have agreed with Valve on how to package future extensions.

Question 4: Will articy:draft 2 come to Steam? Can we buy an upgrade from SE to articy:draft 2?

Since many of the SE-owners have already expressed great interest in upcoming features, we’ll definitely work out a way of making those available to you. That also includes teaming up with Valve to ensure a convenient way of upgrading to higher-tier versions through Steam for you.

In the meantime, if you want to upgrade to articy:draft 2 when it comes out in April, please contact us at and we find a solution and refund the price you paid for articy:draft SE.

Seems it will be possible soon:

Regarding the 2.x upgrade, it'll come to Steam soon as a DLC (yay!). Everything has been prepared on our end, but the people responsible for us at Valve were (understandably) pretty much captured in the summer sale. We're positive that we can now get it going, and we'll keep you posted as soon as we know more about the exact release date.

If I'm right, I think one of the Developers said that Version 2.0 is going to be a DLC. So I'm assuming Version 2.0 will be a discounted price if you buy it as a DLC.

I heard the steam upgrade will probably come in 2 or 3 weeks, for something around $99 (if you have the SE version already). But if you're in a rush, from what Kai said on an old post, you can send an email to their sales department and provide them with your steam ID and activation code, they'll then temporarily deactivate your steam license and you'll be able to purchase (for a 99 EUR fee) the upgrade and use the non-steam version until the official release.
