What happened to my flow fragments
I think this forum needs a bug only thread so people can search for problems they are having and get quick feedback by nevigo moderator or people who have already found solutions.

I have a bug that basically erases all my flow fragment text after a period of time. I spent a good hour or two detailing my fragments and now its all gone. I need assistance on this asap!

Ok, so it turns out that I haven't lost my text input. The problem is now that my flow fragments bottom box which used to display the description has been altered some how, if I look at the properties of the fragment my text is in the discription field. Why is it that the lower box where I used to enter the discription has now been replaced with a box that displayes the text "no information avaliable" and I can't seem to do anthing with the particular box? I'd rather have my description sitting in there like before.

Is there a way to alter the fragments appearance and add or subtract certain boxes? For example can I add another box to the fragement to display text or some other informations which I can see just by looking at the fragment and not entering properties to find it?
If not this is a feature that needs to be added.

Hi,

First aid via my mobile phone, details and explanation will follow soon:

When in the Flow, you should find a group in the toolbar with view settings. Please "uncheck" the "Show template info" option. This will make it switch back to normal mode with descriptions shown on flow nodes.

Does this help?
Cheers,
Kai

Hi,

You accidentially bumped into a feature that switches information displayed on the node to "template data". By attaching a custom-made template to flow fragments, you can add all sorts of fields to your story nodes, for example "estimated playing time", "maximum XP gained", etc.! In the template editor, you can check the "Show in Flow" option on each of the fields.

The effect you saw was that you switched on the "Template infos" in the flow, but didn't have any custom properties marked as "Show in Flow", so the list was empty.

What exactly to you mean by fragment arrangement? You should be able to freely move nodes around. If you're talking about pin positions and cable curves, that's currently not editable. Or did you mean the placement of fields on a node's surface?

All the best!

Yes I meant the placement of fields on a nodes surface. For instance the flow fragment, dialogue and dialogue fragment nodes all have different information entry boxes on them and are displayed differently. I wish to customise this. I read the above post snippit.

I tried this and made fields and added them to a node template, made a new node using the custom template, checked show in flow box in the fields properties and then used the template node view option. I must just be doing it wrong as I cannot get this to work properly. Can you point me to some reference material. I have watched all of your current tutorial videos but none of them go into much depth of this feature. I have also been to your site and browsed through the tutorial topics but I cannot find anything about altering nodes or essentially creating my own custom node.

I'm afraid I have to say "no". Currently, the "anatomy" of nodes and the arrangement of fields on their surface cannot be changed.

This feature has been added in between versions - specifically for a client -, and we decided to make it available to the public also. Yet, the documentation update will come with the 2.0 versions, which is why you didn't find any information about this. It's an "under the radar" feature, and we thought nobody would accidentially stumble across it. We were wrong, obviously :).

Maybe this helps:
  • Have you assigned the feature containing the "Show in flow"-Properties to a template, and assigned this template to the Flow Fragment?
  • The "Show in flow" option currently only works on Flow Fragments, because this is what the client that requested this feature needed. We'll extend the functionality also to Dialogues, but that's currently not implemented. Have you tried it on Flow Fragments?

Thanks for your patience.
-Kai

Thanks for your reply. Yes I was able to get it to work with the functionality it currently has which will be useful, will just have to wait for the advanced functionality to be implemented.
Thanks for your time and great product :).

Thanks for the feedback!

By "advanced functionality" you mean the ability to do the same also on Dialogs and Dialog Fragments in particular?

Cheers,

Yes that and hopefully node "anatomy" customisation which I hope is part of your roadmap. As I believe it to be a vital asset.
