What do You want to See in LA-MULANA 2?
A place for game-play suggestions. Already there will be better/more screen resolutions.
-Getting the 2 out of the name, it is kinda cliche.
-A release on Steam.
-Another Time attack mode, this time with achievements and a leaderboard!
-A leaderboard for game times in general.
-At least the same number of puzzles/bosses/areas/items as the original.
-More instruments used in the music.
-For Nigoro to take their time! The original is such a great game, if L-M:0+9 is any worse than great it will mean bad things.

I like the 2 in the name. It's clear, concise and to the point. It's the subtitle I think needs some work. Just my opinion.

- Yeah, either just La-Mulana 2 or La-Mulana: Short and Simple Subtitle.
- For the most part, more of the same - big bosses, tricky puzzles, great humor
- Lots of callbacks to the previous games, including characters making appearances
- New weapons, items

- Similarly enjoyable puzzles, where you get all the information you need but in a "have to tilt your head to the side and have the right mindset to see what it's getting at" way.

- Platforming being only *kind* of a thing, not a super major focus, outside Hell Temple equivalent.

- Not interested in leaderboards. For one, they're almost universally rendered pointless by hackers (and I'd rather not waste dev time on an ultimately futile attempt to make it hackproof). I'm not *opposed* to the idea for the benefit of those who get their kicks from bragging rights, but I wouldn't want them to be included at the expense of development time of more substantial content. So basically "add them if they're quick and easy, but don't bend over backwards for them" is my take on them.

I'll bet they'll be just fine when it comes to thinking up new good quality puzzles, I'm more worried about quantity.

I'd prefer a Cave Story-style system of achievements for completing the Time Attack levels. Also as much as I love watching La-Mulana speed runs, I wouldn't want there to be too much emphasis on completing the game quickly.

I am looking forward to the improved resolution with widescreen support. I'd like maybe more reason to use different weapons. Can't say I ever used the katana for example.

Yeah, I think the game's current standard for speed goals are reasonable: even a non-speedrunner should be able to hit them on a later playthrough once they know their way around, without much difficulty. But on a first or maybe second playthrough, enough time will be spent exploring and bashing your head against the wall that that won't happen. And then speedrunners can compete with each other for actual *times* - which they do anyway.

That way a casual can happily know they got within the 10 hour (or equivalent) best category as far as the game is concerned, while the speedrunning community can work on shaving minutes and seconds off times that are a fifth that long. I don't think it would be a good idea to have any in-game stuff (like achievements or items) be so strict that only a speedrunner would even have a chance at it in the first place.

i think it would be interesting to see a kinda boss run like mode but it would be hard to figure out how to make it work

There already is boss rush mode in the current version. It is the thing on the main menu that says "Time Attack". The bosses are divided in to four categories (easy, medium, hard, and main boss) and then there are three ways to fight each category with different equipment. You are timed while you do this and your best time is recorded. There is a discussion ("Time Attack Times and Progress") where people can post their best times and progress in each challenge.

I would also like to see more visual puzzles like the block pushing ones, without any reduction of the word and clue puzzles.

I'd like to see a second unloackable character who already has all the abilities needed to complete most puzzles and beat every boss from the start while not being overpowered. That way the game could have more of an action focus for a second playthrough. Similar to Richter in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

That should definitely be Lemaza!

I think as long as it has some good "oh ♥♥♥♥" moments (your first gaurdian, discovering a new field for the first time, some insta-death traps) then we can't go wrong.
