TLDR: It isn't ready. It feels like it still in early access or in early beta. Needs to be patched and updated for a more polished product before I can recommend this for purchase.
While I have played the game for a few hours now (only the campaign mode), I can say I am not sure what I have played. The UI just feels like a mess to sort through and the mouse button feels floaty and out of place. Missing text or substitute names (like "Prop: Tree 101"...not a direct example) for most objects in the game. AI seems to be functional is some places and missing in others. Goblin workers run in place sometimes, priorities of what you want the workers to do seems random, and even most minions (to include the NPC enemy's units) can walk on liquid surfaces like Jesus. Now there are some creatures that can bypass liquid areas with float/fly and that makes sense, but I don't think a dwarf or soldier in heavy armor has the ability to do that.
There seems to be alot of information missing for the player as well. The tutorial will say certain rooms to need to be 3x3 or etc to function, but never show or remind you later when hovering over a room to build. More lack of information comes from how much food or gold is needed for their upkeep. It also doesn't tell how many units your dungeon can hold or build or even how long it takes to build said units. For instance, I built 100,000 gold worth of room called Beast Den. It does not require much space and I built it above recommended specs. In terms 100,000 gold for one room is quite a lot, but I am not what benefit, if any at all, that gave me. (To note I did build the structure over multiple areas, but still above recommended specs in each place). It seemed the creatures didn't become more powerful or spawn more frequently. They would just spawn a guy every minute or so and thats all I could really tell you. Even if I spent a more reasonable 5000-7500 gold, it seemed it was the same spawn rate and same amount of creatures given. It just doesn't make sense to me...and that is the common theme in the game.
Nothing makes sense there is such a lack of communication of information from the game to the player. And when the game tries to relay information it seems to be done poorly. Nothing about this title suggests to me its polished or ready to sell as is.
I remember launch being a month ago and I waited for patches and etc. The same bugs and lack of polish can still be found today.
For all those applauding this game for being a great example for how early access games should be released, I think you should do a double take and remove your rose tinted glasses for a new Dungeon Keeper title.
The game isn't ready for sale and needs more polish. It is a shame that they released it in such a poor state as I haven't covered the still missing features like skirmish mode. I hope this doesn't turn out to be another cash grab early access game where development is abandoned later.
