Patch Notes: Bedrock Beta v0.1.2 “Fog of War”
This update is going to be relatively light on changes and fixes as we are spending a lot of our time preparing for future, larger updates. We know it’s been slow thus far, but new features and content will start being added significantly faster in the coming weeks and months.

Misc Changes
  • All debug keys are now disabled unless debug mode is toggled on with F4
  • Zoom speed increased and made smoother
  • Maximum zoom distance increased
  • Gold tiles can now be re-enforced
New Spell: Rally
The Rally spell will allow some basic unit control, allowing you to actually order groups of units into combat instead of waiting for them to wander over themselves
  • Casting Rally will place a flag which all non-worker units will move towards
  • Slapping (right click) a Rally flag will remove it
  • Placing a new Rally flag will remove the previous flag
  • Later on, we will have unit groups and multiple rally flags, and there is a (very temperamental) preview of this in the current build:
    • Enter debug mode (press F4)
    • Press F10 to spawn a flag for group 1
    • Press F11 to spawn a flag for group 2
    • Press F8 to add the selected unit to group 1
    • Press F9 to add the selected unit to group 2
    • Units should move towards their corresponding flag
New Fog of War System
The new Fog of War system has been added, which will generally improve the visibility of everything you need to actually see, as well as making it easier for you to plan out your Dungeon
  • Claimed tiles now grant a consistent vision radius
  • Tagged blocks are now properly highlighted through the fog of war
  • The contents of tagged blocks are not revealed until you can actually see them
  • A new Culling system will improve performance by not rendering anything the camera cannot actually see
Bug fixes
  • Dying whilst possessed should no longer trap your soul in the mortal realm
  • Slapping units to death should no longer cause them to become a statue for the rest of time
  • Various crash fixes
  • Various minor performance fixes

Any update on resolving the frequent periodic hitching/stuttering? Gets worse the more your minions dig on the Sandbox map. When it stutters the audio does too, causing a little burst of static.

Windows 7 x64
i7 920 @ 2.66GHZ
ASUS P6T Motherboard
6GB DDR3 1600MHZ RAM
Geforce 560Ti 2GB (314.22 drivers, I hear the newer ones are crash prone)
Auzentech XFI Forte Soundcard

It's being worked on but not entirely fixed yet in this build. Expect significantly increased stability over the next month or two.

Yeah I noticed that too :P

The increased camera zoom (Able to zoom out further) is greatly appreciated.

It actualy feels worse now, that hitch/stutter happens every 10 seconds now and makes it unplayable for me. It feels like you are going backwards with this game... I was very excited when I heard about a succsor to Dungeoun Keeper, but it feels this game isnt going to live up to the hype with very slow progress and each update you seem to disable more and more stuff

As the paragraph at the top hints at, we're spending a lot of time on behind-the-scenes stuff. There's a major overhaul of some very core systems coming soon, which is why this update has been relatively lite on changes (many things rely on the overhaul and as such cannot be added yet).

We know it's going slowly, but it's for the best. Just hang in there :)

Why not wait until a bigger portion was done then or at least waited till this portion was working, because them stutters im gettin has made it unplayable for now compared to before the patch..

Because we need to test stuff. This is a beta ;)

Anyway, set this up just for you:
  • Restart Steam
  • Right click on WFTO in your game list, go to properties
  • Go to the beta tab, select the 'previousbuild' branch
  • Click apply and restart Steam again
  • You will now have the previous build instead of the current one

@bradaz this beta is for us to watch the game grow as intended wether theres problems or not and they have promised updates at least once a month, so if thats all they have for us this month (or atleast the stable parts of it). it will have to do.

Thank you for stating the obvious :)
