Infinite Resources? (Current Status Question)
Just watching a video on War for the Overworld from nearly 2 months ago and
it seems like you get infinite of all resources all the time.

Was just curious if in the current build this is still a thing, and secondly if
it can be changed/disabled so that they aren't infinite? lol.

I'm considering picking the game up and am just attempting to do a little research
before-hand to see if it's worth playing now or now.

I understand Early Access, etc. It's just the things like infinite resources that I'd like
to be aware of since those are pretty massive things to miss.
(I wouldn't have even had a clue that was a thing if i hadn't watched this video)

Hey Vincent,
There is one level that grants the player infinite resources (My Little Dungeon if I recall correctly), it also allows you to spawn waves of enemies to fight against. The good news is that it can be toggled on and off!

In general resources have not seen a balance pass, and probably won't until Multiplayer is considered stable enough to be enjoyable. Right now, since the majority of our players are playing the sandbox maps gold is fairly easy to come by -- there's no reason to make players sit there for 20 minutes mining / researching in order to unlock the latest assets that have been added by a content patch.

Short answer: resources come fast and easy right now, this will change once Multiplayer is stable and we do a second pass at the maths.

Thanks so much for replying!

I'm definitely interested in the game, but since I have so many Early Access games
'baking in the oven' that is my game library, i might have to pass for now.

Though this is definitely a game I'll be picking up in the future, just not sure when.
(if i know myself well enough i'd say not very far in the future haha)

In the meantime I opted to pick up Dungeon Keeper 2 on GOG since I actually never
played the original DK1 or DK2 and am curious to see what they're like.

I'm hoping your game will 'out-do' DK2 in the future but right now I'm feeling
like a more polished, complete experience haha.

But I look forward to chatting with you guys more in the future when I do pick it up.
(hope i didn't disappoint too much)

Thanks

Not at all! We'd rather your first time playing the game be one that keeps you coming back -- I know full well how easy it is to get burnt out on a game before it's released thanks to this new Early Access craze.

Cheers

Not that it really matters to anyone hehe; but I decided to pick up
War for the Overworld after all.

After playing Dungeon Keeper 2 I liked the formula/game enough that
I was kinda curious to try the 'new' version, even if it is not yet complete.

It matters to us Vincent!

Every individual who purchases the game inspires us even further to make sure it turns out great! You're a cool guy for supporting us, keep on being awesome!

Lol hate to be the guy who 'rains on your parade' to people,
but i'm having some difficulty with the game lol,
in that it's quite unbearably laggy hehe.
Lags regardless of graphics settings when there are several rooms with maybe more than a dozen minions running around.

Of course i know optimizations are coming but I can't help but go back and play
more DKII and wait for the next patch for War for the Overworld.

That said I did really enjoy what I did play and I am very happy to support you guys
and can't wait to see what an awesome game this becomes :)

I'm sorry to hear that you're having such significant performance issues, sadly we find that it does tend to creep up on even some of the best systems at the moment.

We usually make a couple of performance improvements in each patch but the real performance passes will be coming down the line. We'll be doing some pretty significant optimisation passes and introducing granular graphics settings as we march closer to release. Hopefully in a few months time you should see some major improvements.

Thank you very much for the support and we'll work hard to deliver a fantastic game to everyone here!
