Themed Room Beast Den
I love that in WFTO, rooms have a good and evil theme, and goodly units have a corrupted skin leads to the thematic nature of this game. I think it gives a lot of creativity to the game and story narrative; except, for the lowly Beast Den.

The Beast Den, is a great concept, but it lacks the features of other rooms, and the creatures are also lacking in that department. I know that this skinning and texturing takes a lot of development time and effort, but I feel something is missing here without a goodly beast den. It seems like a wasted opportunity, and missing feature that weakens any time a player uses the good side (like in SnowHope).

The Beast Den is missing from the campaign for any goodly team. This is because it doesn't fit, but it could. Most good themes have a lighter nature, and most good vs corrupted units have a simple reskinning. A nice thing about the reskinning of beasts is, they can't be captured or converted. Meaning there a straight up trade, that doesn't need to be mixed with their counterparts. Using these aspects, I formally request this feature be considered.

To help along, I wanted to a simple good equivalent for each.

Crimson Hellish Beast Den -> Mystic Forest Glen. Replace the beast Portal with a Tree Portal. Replace the crimson ground with a more earthly, possibly grassy ground. Walls can be textured as an overworld cliff or cave.

Skargg -> Wolf. Fits perfectly with the Huntress on the Goodly size, is a simple reskin, and share all the basic attack and lunge abilities.
Oculous -> FireBird/Will-o-Wisp. Little light puff ball that can throw fire and stun. Looks more goodly then eye sack.
Bafu -> Barbed Eagle. Flicking barbs, horrid screeching sounds... same size... goodly-ish... Feels like a goodly Bafu that accompanies the Huntress easily
Shadow -> Black Panther. Stronger then a wolf, and can be claimed to have considerable stealth.

Regardless, I love the work and effort put into this game. This has been an excellent purchase since early beta. Thanks for all the work you do.

These aren't "simple reskins" in your suggestions. They're actually a lot more work than that:

Each of these new units are brand new models, requiring new textures and animation even if they shared the same combat abilities.

Sadly this just isn't something that is worth the time and value required for what is basically a room change which will only be seen on a small fraction of the themes available in the game.

Sooo this is an interesting one. We had originally planned for the Empire to have a set of Elven units instead of Beasts. They were going to spawn in their own room and have 'odd' spawning/revival rules that are almost the opposite of Beasts (they were going to respawn, similar to Vampires).

They were scrapped fairly early on though in favour of fleshing out more Underlord units. The fact of the matter is that because you never truly play as the Empire, we wanted to ensure the resources we put into them made them interesting enemies, rather than being interesting to play. That's why we've got a bunch of unique bosses and minibosses instead of a wider variety of basic units.

Thanks all for the feedback.

Nutter, you are correct, it is more then reskinning. Thanks for reminding me.

Simburgur, I agree that they were not meant to be played. I do like that they can be played; however, I do in fact, want to play with them on Skirmishes. I think It could make an interesting twist to have some hero skirmish maps to provide some variance, or perhaps the option to use Hero Portals over Underworld Portals.

Again, I love this game. I feel this request is a little odd, but it is derived from my desire to use Hero Portals and Goodly Themes in skirmish matches, and perhaps future pet dungeons.

Thanks again for the feedback.

No those units got cut a long time ago before they ever got past the design stage, maybe in WFTO2 perhaps.

oh well, so far i see only game that centre around dwarven race would ommit elven existent in fantasy game, nonetheless i can only hope there will be a level in the sequel where the underlord tunnel his dungeon into the roots of the world tree, killing it and destroying the surface world, not too specific am i?
