[FAQ] Troubleshooting Dragon Commander & support
[FAQ] Troubleshooting Dragon Commander & support
Known issues:

1) Issue: The game does not start up :

Temporary solution A: Start up the game in windowed mode.
download this file:
{LINK REMOVED}

And place it in ..\Documents\Larian Studios\Dragon Commander\
If these folders do not exist, create them manually.

You can now start the game and set it to the windowed resolution of your choice.

Note: we are working on a fix for this as soon as possible.

Temporary solution B: delete all files in ..\Documents\Larian Studios\Dragon Commander\
This will reset all config and graphics options to default.

----------------------------------------------

2) When going to combat, the game crashes

Temporary solution A: Set your graphics settings to medium or lower. Texture quality should be medium or lower.

Temporary solution B: if you are playing on a laptop with both intel HD onboard graphics and a mobile graphics card, set your preferred graphics processor to the NVIDIA or AMD card instead of onboard intel.

If the issue persists, send a mail to supportdc@larian.com

----------------------------------------------

3) Issue symptoms:
- one third of the screen is white
- you have graphics artifacts/sorting issues
- you have font problems (words missing or letters missing)
- you have very low framerate in the interface or in combat

solution: do not force Anti-Aliasing in your driver settings for our application. Set it to default 3D settings or set it to "application controlled". Do not override AA settings via drivers.

----------------------------------------------

4) game crashes when starting campaign or multiplayer (and skill icons are missing)

Temporary solution: change your installation path to not include characters like ".". Change your installation folder to a normal name without special characters.

----------------------------------------------

5) where are the imperial edition files ?

You can find them in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Divinity Dragon Commander\Imperial edition

----------------------------------------------

Hi Torgor,

All mails concerning crash on startup for D:DC have been answered as far as we know. Could you resend your support mail with a reference to this topic and a dxdiag.txt of your system.

supportdc@larian.com

Please also check if you have this on the latest beta.

Hmm... I have a 1600:900 screen, and I can play fine. Just adding that.

Updated the section for support. There is now a tool that will automatically check if you meet all requirements and create a report.zip for our support department.

@Octaaf: Quick spelling note: in the first line, "whether" is missing an "h". Sorry, I always catch these things.
EDIT: also, another little thing, it tells me that I fail the CPU requirements because my base clock is 2.2ghz, but it has the Intel TurboBoost thing up to 3.2Ghz.

I'm sure there are more typo's in there than that. But "wether", "whether", "wheter" or any combination of those letters does not appear when i search this page. I even tried "wet her" and "wet hair" but still turned up empty !

Sorry, I meant in the tool download. I should have been more specific. I'm sure no one else will notice it. I have a...talent...for picking these things out.
EDIT: And it also seems to be telling me that my DirectX verison is -1...I think I'll go find something else to do.

can developers delete the beta game in my library?
Raze_Larian Aug 6, 2013 @ 2:44am
No, you'll have to contact Steam support (Permanently Remove Games From Your Library).

Alternately, you can delete local content and switch your library to only show installed games.

Added known issue:

4) game crashes when starting campaign or multiplayer (and skill icons are missing)

Temporary solution: change your installation path to not include characters like ".". Change your installation folder to a normal name without special characters.

We are currently looking into other blocking issues and will provide workarounds or fixes for them as soon as possible.

Hi I pre ordered the game and I've installed it fine through Steam but every time I try and launch the game through Steam and Unknown error message pops up and does not allow me to play the game through Steam this also happened with the Beta version of the game but i didn't think much of it at the time. However i find it weird that if I go directly into the game Directory and select the .exe file I can play it can, someone help me fix this problem as I want earn the achievements lol I know kinda sad :P

I purchased the Divinity: Dragon Commander Imperial edition at least a week ago during the last 48 hours of the crazy steam sale it had. Once I had it installed I readied myself for hours of chaotic fun, only for the game to immediately crash to desktop without even making it to the main menu. It just barely makes it through the opening credits showing the Larian logo before instantly crashing claiming there was a problem and it needed to close. Numerous uninstalls and re-installs, multiple restarts of the whole computer, and hours of research has had no help whatsoever. I've sent an email to supportDC@Larian.com shortly after this happening the 20th time, and have had no word since. Even though I bought it on sale, I still don't approve of wasting £13 on a mainstream game. I really hope someone can help fix this issue, as it's been glaring at me on my list of games, taunting me knowing that I can't play a game that i've been really looking forward to.
