doom 2 brutal doom

hello im going to get this game soon, i was just wonderying if i needed any other doom games to run brutal doom. or doom 2 would be inuff to run the mod with.

also if once i modded this game, could i run it on steam or i have to run the game from my desktop?

Brutal Doom will work with any of the classic Doom games.
Doom 2 is the only classic Doom that can't run through Steam after being modded, all others work.

To clairify, "through steam" means with the overlay (which I personally find totally useless). Doom 2 still runs if you copy the file from the steam folder its from, and use it with a source port. Oh, and it would be cool if you and me could play on a multiplayer server, a guy I know runs a pretty good one with a good wad combination.

Its using a BE server, honestly I get around 100 ping, but he has a good mix of wads, bd itself map packs (which he changes now and then) the advanced hud and other things. its called shreddermans or something. Unsure if its up at the moment.

Brutal doom will work with any doom game. So yeah all you need is doom 2. If you want to play Doom 2 with the Brutal doom mod there is a guide on steam on how to do it. :)

Edit: After a bit of searching I foudn the guide. I know its for Ultimate Doom but trust me its the same process for Doom 2 and all the other Dooms. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=159071630

uhh its really not hard at all.

purchase DOOM II
download the latest version of GZDoom
download the brutal doom pk3
drag that file over top gzdoom.exe
gzdoom automatically finds all DOOM steam apps for you

really, thats all you have to do

Brutal doom has better effects if you use GZdoom instead of Zandronum. (No warping effects when looking up or down,better lighting effects,etc) Download ZDL for easier compiling of doom mods.

The warping only happens in sofware mode, on any source port. GZdoom is better though, the lighting being one example.
