What is this, dosbox leftovers?

It runs when the game is launched but I run Zandronum.
I was trying to install Zandronum in the Doom 2 base folder, the same as Ultimate Doom so the overlay works.
The overlay does not work and neither do screenshots, how are people taking screenshots and uploading to steam?

I tried removing the files it references, nothing happens.
I think it may be from the bat files but if I remove these the game wont start. I don't know much about .bat files.

Is this why the overlay wont work?

How to upload steam screenshots.
Go here -C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\49564284\760\remote
make new folder called 2300, in that make a new folder called screenshots.
Take screenshots from external program and rename to steam format.
2013-08-13_00001.jpg

year-month-day_number that day.jpg

Place screenshots in new folder.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\49564284\760\remote\2300\screenshots

Restart steam, now they will be available for upload.

If I run as a non steam game how will it be connected to the Doom 2 overlay?

Why is the doom 2 overlay that important?...if you need side stuff so badly, you could easily just run it in windowed mode in GZDOOM, and have a web browser.

So I should have stuck with my pirate copy then? I would like to use the features of the Steam overlay. I would like to upload screenshots without having to edit file names. I would like my friends to know what im playing.

Please explain what this means? what is side stuff? Its like you think I dont know how to launch the game. I am looking for a solution to get the Steam overlay working, not to get the game running.

It isnt a pirate copy, just steam tries to use doom using dosbox. Running it via GZDOOM (or w.e else) wont be reckognized for the over-lay.

And I mean that if you want the stuff from the overlay, just have a web browser and open the forums, or guides, or w.e you want on the overlay manually. As far as I know there is no way to connect the official doom 1 / 2 / final overlay with them, since they are using a different program than what steam uses.

Tl;dr : The overlay wont work, just use gzdoom / whatever, and open forums / whatever manually in a web browser.

Also, whats this big deal about the over-lay anyway? Why is it so damn important to you?

The overlay works with all the other Classic Doom games when I run Zandronum, just not Doom 2.
You install your source port into the game folder where the doxbox.exe is, then rename Zandronum.exe to doxbox.exe and it will work.

I upgraded from my pirate copy so I could participate in the forums, screenshots, guides etc without feeling bad about not paying for it. Now I feel bad for paying for it.

It bothers me because it works just fine on all the other Dooms. So it must be something not very hard to fix for someone who knows how.

He (and I) want to use the steam overlay with all it's features while playing. We don't care if it's important to you or not - to us it is. And the problem here is, all the other Doom engine games work fine - Doom 1, Heretic, Hexen, the Hexen addon - just Doom 2 won't work and we try to figure out why, so don't give us your "why is it so important to you?" and other crap. Why can't people like you just stay quiet if they don't have anything useful to share in such threads?
