Check that out! If you like it, the instructions should explain where to download everything.
I think zdoom and gzdoom are excellent ways to play doom. If you're really into steam integration, install zdoom and copy the all the files from the install folder into your steam/steamapps/doom 2 folder, and rename zdoom.exe into dosbox. This will allow steam to launch the game. You can then add commands by right clicking the game in steam and clicking properties and lauch options. You can add command lines like -file brutaldoom.pk3 or whatever the name of the mod is. This will launch zdoom with the pk3 file assuming the pk3 file is in the same folder as dosbox.exe. Hopefully with these instructions you can get Aliens running through steam, or at least through zdoom seperately, as well as other mods.
If it does work for you, let me know how the mod is. I'd like to play it when I get a chance.
My instructions are just to launch zdoom through steam, in case you wanna use other mods later and add pk3 files later. Basically just a bonus if you're curious later. Launching through steam also logs your game time. If you don't care about that, then its perfectly fine to just launch zdoom without steam altogether, or add it as a non-steam game.
1. Download gzdoom http://www.osnanet.de/c.oelckers/gzdoom/download.html
and extract it to a folder
2. Download the mod from {LINKKI POISTETTU}http://www.mediafire.com/download/ts9h8484776gtkq/AliensCMv.2012.rar
and extract it to a folder
3. Copy all the files from AliensCMv2012 folder into your gzdoom folder
4. Copy Doom2.wad into your gzdoom folder
You can find your Doom2.wad in
\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Doom 2\base
most likely
5. Double click Run-AliensCM
That should work. I'll try it out in a sec to see.
