If I get this game... I just have a few questions.
Is the multiplayer active?
Is it possible to aim up or down? (I've seen Youtube videos, and it doesn't look like you can.)
Is there a server list for the multiplayer(i.e. like Counter-Strike's server lists.)

Zandronum is an excellent multiplayer client with a fairly stable population.

Yes multiplayer is active. The Steam game itself does not have multiplayer, you just use the files that come with steam for Doom engine modifications called "source ports." For casual games I recommend Zandronum, for competitive CTF and Duel I recommend Odamex.

The original Doom did not have vertical aiming (called 'mouselook' or 'freelook') however most source ports do have it. Some servers force the disabling of it, and others allow you to use it.

Yes there is a list of servers. The major multiplayer source ports come with utilities to see their servers and you join them by double clicking them. The two most popular multi-port utilities are Internet Doom Explorer and Doomseeker for seeing servers.

I really want to buy the doom complete pack and i remember the joy i had with all the doom games. I also remember not being able to aim up and down and thought nothing of it at the time, but today i don't know if i could bear it even though i loved these games.

Ok, so i got the complete pack and chose the latest zdoom source port. What the F is with the 70's porn music throughout the game. I played the doom games on ps1 and the music was all eerie, intense and depressing which sits perfect with doom in my eyes. Is this terrible music because of the source port? i wana stab my ear drums!

The PSX (and subsequently, N64) versions of Doom have a completely different soundtrack. The PC versions of Doom have music written for MIDI devices, which is pretty old-school, so it might sound cheesy to the modern ear.

Yeah, that makes perfect sense. What a disappointment though. I checked youtube before purchase and i just assumed that was someone adding that crap music to their videos. It really makes a big difference to the atmosphere of the game for me. I suppose i should have known this since i have been gaming since 1985 at age 5. Thanks for clearing that up CaptainCouch. Awesome name by the way =)
