put the sourceport.exe in the same folder as dosbox.exe (usually on windows/progam files/steam/steamapps/common/doom2/base), then rename the "sourceport.exe" to "dosbox.exe", yes replace the old dosbox, done :)

He means the executable for the source port you are using. For instance, I am using Zandronum, so I put all the Zandorum files into the Steam Doom II folder, I renamed the dosbox exe to "dosbox.bkp", then I renamed the Zandorum exe to "dosbox". Since Steam is only looking for something called "dosbox", it will launch anything with that name in that folder.

Okay thanks! I thought that's what he meant but it wasn't working for me, I must've been doing something wrong...

Which source port are you using?

If it's a Zdoom variant, there should be a conf file with your player name in the title. Mine is called "zandronum-Kwyjibo". Go into that, find the line called [Doom.Autoload], and then put the paths of the files you want to it to run automatically, like this:

[Doom.Autoload]
path=C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Doom 2\base\brutal19.pk3
path=C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Doom 2\base\doommetalvol4.wad

(if you're not using the Doom Metal wad for your music, I would recommend you try it out)

However, using the autoload functionality might make playing online difficult, since different servers may require older versions of the mods. For online you might want to use a different folder with Zandronum in it that doesn't use autoload. I could be wrong though, I've never tried it out.
