Secrets in Doom 4
The coolest part of Doom and Doom II in my opinion was the secret areas! Giving you awesome power ups and ammo, the secrets were also a really big acheivement to find. But in Doom 3, secrets were taken away, with only easter eggs to be found. Do you think Id will bring back secret areas in Doom 4, or should we not even count on it?

too early to tell, and you're partially wrong about secrets being taken away in "Doom 3". Like for example.....

when you reach the Administration level and fight your first Pinky Demon, if you were to grab William Banks' PDA from Betruger's office and backtrack to where you fought your first Pinky, another one will spawn in. Plus, in Delta Labs-2A, there's a room where you have to operate some machinery, you'll notice an open airvent in the wall. But directly across from it, will be another airvent that can be opened by jumping onto the ledge from a box from the crane you used, and it'll contain some plasma cells and medkits, Not to mention, the entirety of Delta Labs-2A must be completed in a certain way to make hidden enemies spawn in (which also counts as a secret).

There was also the whole PDA/Lockers thing and using consoles to access secret areas.

Yeah the secrets were always good to stumble upon just as the odds looked grim. Let's not forget the traps. I just played a wad for Doom 2 that had a rediculous amount of traps that made many people ragequit. But us rugged Doom players laughed back in the faces of those Demons. And found those nooks and crannies you had to use to up the odds of survival. I hope they dont make it to easy. Modern games have made players to soft. If you dont die in the first 15 seconds and think about why. And how the hell your supposed to survive. It's not challenging you'r tactical adaptability! However they decide to do it. It will be interesteting to see what modding tools will be available for the fans. One of best things about PC gaming is that modding community. You don't like a publishers take on a game? The odds are someone out there agreed with you and already modded it. I'm excited to see what they do.

Yes, the traps were always horrifying to me when you would step apon them unexpectedly. And your right about the modern games, you never exactly get a chance to really explore, do you?

You mean like the level tricks and traps?
I really dont think the originals can ever be topped. I dont think its possible they were easily some of the best games ever made to those that played them back then. The new kids will probably be amazed by the sparkly graphics though in the new one

Hopefully the graphics won't be like the kind you'd find in other modern FPS shooters like GTA V or Call of Duty and will have it's own unique style like the old ones did
