Good Mods for the Doom games

Can any recommend some good mods for the Doom games? I'd love to get Brutal Doom but I'd like to play through the games regularly first.

There are so many. Start with Doomseeker and download whatever wads sound fun.

I recently found this pretty sweet mod that pretty much gives you a walking mech suit:

It's kind of OP, but really fun, especially to just go nuts on Megawads with high enemy numbers. I managed to fiddle around with it a bit in SLADE too and got it working with Brutal Doom.

If you want a really good level pack and have Zdoom or GZdoom, get the Zpack. It's probably the best level pack to go with Brutal Doom.

I think the Community Projects atleast got a Cacoward each in the respective years they were out.

Does anyone know which open source Doom game is better, or does it really matter? And would either of them also have the additional game episodes that the Steam version was bundled with?
