Trouble with running Strife on GZDoom
Strife, the id tech 1 game that fuses FPS with RPG, doesn't work properly on gzdoom. No voices or sounds are heard and to play the music Microsoft Synthesizer must be selcted instead of fmod. I works on Vavoom somewhat, but I dislike using it. On ZDoom, it works fine, no need to change from fmod, but It's not my favourite port either because I can't select 1680x1050 resolution and the mouselook works poorly, unlike gzdoom where it works perfectly. Is there something I can do about this? And I really don't have a better place to ask, even though Strife is only related to Doom via the engine, making my post off topic somewhat.

Maybe ask, aswell, on the forums that the GZDoom developers read.

sounds to me like gzdoom is not finding and loading voices.wad which contains the voice stuff. It usually loads automatically along with strife.wad

Found a gzdoom beta or something at http://devbuilds.drdteam.org/gzdoom/ and it seems to work well so far. Thanks for the tips anyway!

By the way, who has the publishing rights to this game right now?

Because all of the voices and what not are kept in it's own wad file voices.wad. You need to load that file alongside the strife.wad
