For non-xbox controller users
Download x360ce from
Open it, configure your controls and save it.

You'll get a new ini file and xinput1_3.dll in the folder you put x360ce.exe. Rename it to xinput9_1_0.dll and put it in \Steam\steamapps\common\Joe Danger\Bin. Make sure to back up the old file. Also make sure you copy the new x360ce.ini to that folder.

You don't need to do anything with x360ce.exe afterwards.

x360ce.exe crashes when i close it. Any idea why this is happening? I am using Windows 8

I used x360ce for several games and it usually works just fine. After a few tries I also got it to work for this game.

Still, it really eludes me, why so many console developers don't get that people on pc do not all use an xbox controller...

That shouldn't really matter aslong as you're able to save. The important bits are the 360ce.ini file and xinput1_3.dll. You don't need the exe for anything else afterwards.

This is not work!

I once placed my x360ce.exe in Dust: An Elysian Tail's folder (where the .exe game is,using Steam's "Show game's files" thing) and the game works perfectly with my Logitech Rumblepad 2..without it,the game wouldn't recognize (even if the game's Steam Profile page says it IS)

Well,i tried placing x360ce.exe in JD's folder where the .exe is and, surprise!,IT WON'T GET RECOGNIZED...not even with the latest version of x360ce

Any help would be appreciated..and no,with Dust i didn't needed to go to any steam folder that wasn't the game itself (nor any other "off-steam" game)

In the game folder, you find a folder named "bin". Place x360ce in there.

And that's what i did....and still it doesn't works...Need me to do a video about it?

Just to be clear, you need to do more than just place x360ce.exe in that folder.

When you've put that file in the Bin folder, open it, configure your controller and press save. There should be a x360ce.ini file and a xinput1_3.dll file in that folder now. When that's done you should rename the xinput1_3.dll file to xinput9_1_0.dll. (make sure to backup the old xinput9_1_0.dll file first).

If that still doesn't work, check if steam isn't sneakily bringing back the old dll file. I would try making the new file "read-only" then and see if that works.

I've started x360ce.exe cleanly from the Bin Folder (JD1),made the typical "Yes Yes" answers, then waited for the internet detection (it appears "Internet" as a result, common) and i agree and stuff..i press "Save" at the bottom and whenever i close x360ce (to rename the file you told me) it crashes on me (Latest version of x360ce).

I was like "oh well,it saved"..I've renamed the xinput file to what you said and whenever i open x360ce it crashes instantly on me

EDIT: I'm uploading a video of what you said to do,hope that let's you understand the situation

EDIT 2: I did everything from the start, then saved, then, while x360ce WAS STILL OPEN,i've edited the file and ran the game and YES,IT WORKS...but if you close x360ce THE PROGRAM CRASHES

EDIT 3: just create the file with x360ce,close x360ce,rename the file and that's it,with x360ce closed?..that works,that was something i didn't knew...

Hopefully the game makers fixes this ASAP

I used Joy2Stick and configured the keyboard controls to my controller. It works pretty well. Hello Games really need to patch this, though, to fix the controller issues. It displays XBox controller button prompts ("Press B to do this!") even when it knows the player is using keyboard.

For some reason the config is not picking up my PS2 controller...what am I doing wrong?

Maybe it's because it's not that compatible?...

Dang...Gonna have to live with scrambling for the W key to switch the lane while trying to get combo 100% using Q and E and pressing D to Boost...

They should have really covered this. And to be honest, the x360ce stuff he said sounds complicated, or at least complicated to my brain because I just woke up...

Thanks so much! Couldn't figure out what the issue was and this worked like a charm. Just be sure to rename the pre-existing XInput9_1_0.dll file *before* you run x360ce or it will crash.
