Did you format your PC?
Some Games for Windows Live save files are encrypted and they only work with the profile in the PC they were created. To move them to a new PC (or new Windows installation) you need to copy the GFWL profile that is hidden somewhere in the userdata folder or something like that along with the save files of each game. I'm sorry to say it, but if you already deleted everything I don't think there is anything you can do.
It happened to me to, I lost everything in Batman Arkham Asylum : /

I managed to copy my save file of Ace Combat from my laptop to my PC, but that's because I also copied the GFWL profile.

rebooted it back to factory setting due to some windows errors but i managed to get my save file working and this may help to all that dont know how: first complete first mission and prologue then exist the game and then copy paste the save file but rename the old to the new one then it works fine but as Roguetwo said it might only work for the same profile. but thanks for the help Roughttwo but try use the way i tried here maybe you will get your save to work in other games :)

basic yes. but exsample if you have the CD key version. a Steam version of the savegame wont work but if we say you got the steam version. and messed up your pc like i did. all you have to is copy your folder called Namco under my documents and then paste it to another HDD exsample (or whatever you use hehe). so after that and your pc is running fine again and you installed the game you have to you can't skip this you need to complete. Nightmare (mission1) and the prolouge (mission 1+) after that close your game dont forget to save after the mission is over, then go to my documents and copy the name of the save file (the new one not the back up save) and then head to your backup save and rename it to the new save files name and then copy it to the Namco/save folder under my documents. And start up your game and take to the skies. and yes all your Saved custom and unlocked planes will be there included ingame Achievements.

I can confirm that this works! finish the first two missions and copy the file name of your "new" save file and then paste it over your "original" save file and move your save file to the NAMCO folder and you are set! I was so worried I lost my work!
