ACE COMBAT™ ASSAULT HORIZON Enhanced Edition

If you wish for another Ace Combat game to be ported on Steam, which title do you want ?
I think Namco Bandai did a good thing of finally bringing an Ace Combat game to PC, even though it's not the one with the classic gameplay. Also QLOC (known for porting console games to PC, months ago they ported Resident Evil 4 HD to PC) did a good job doing the porting.
Well, I think it's not a bad idea if they port another Ace Combat game to PC. I agree that chances might be very slim seeing that majority of the game from the beginning of the series are console-exclusives.
I personally wished for Ace Combat 6 to be ported to PC. Judging by the graphic and game engine in it, I think it might be a potential Ace Combat game to be ported to PC.
What about you guys ? If you wished for another PC port of Ace Combat game, which title would you wish to be brought to PC ?

There is always a potential in porting older games to Steam. Console generations come and go, while PC only gets more and more powerful. There are of course new technologies, new Windowses etc. but mostly what is required to do with a game in such cases is to update the game or the driver to make up for some compatibility issues - it's not porting a game to an entirely different processor architecture, entirely new system etc. And you just keep on selling it on all these crazy sales - so why not do it?

Yes, I'm glad Assault Horizon was brought to PC, although by far - this isn't the best example of QLOC porting, especially when compared to a much more graphically impressive and much better optimized DMC: Devil May Cry, which ironically was released on PC a day before Assault Horizon. But either way - I'm glad we got it, since Hawx just didn't scratch that itch for the air combat game.

At the same time - they could bring other AC games on PC as well. Especially, that I - being a PC gamer all my life - never really had a chance to play them (I'm no longer interested in emulators). And I'm not alone in it.

I agree with that. There had already been request for Ace Combat HD collecton. that consists of PS2 titles of Ace Combat (04, 5, Zero). I don't know if the upcoming F2P Ace Combat Infinity was a response from NamcoBandai to that request or not. I think it might imply two things: either it was some sort of HD collection judging by they implemented elements from past AC titles like classic gameplay, superweapons, etc., or it's some sort of "prelude" they're giving to fans of the genre before actually making a HD collection of the PS2 titles or perhaps developing an entirely new sequel in Ace Combat series.

AC6, and that new AC:Infinite seems intereresting. A F2P is just right in PC gamer's alley.
Put it on steam and done. I'll buy at least one skin. I promise

I just happened to found an online petition here that requests for a multiplatform release of AC:Infinity (including on PC). Here's the link:

You can sign it if you're interested in supporting this.

While I wholeheartedly agree with the notion, there are worrying issues, such as for example, games like MechWarrior 2 and its classic expansions MW2: Mercenaries and Ghost Bear's Legacy that are simply too old to be ran effectively, it takes a lot of workarounds to even make it compatible with Windows XP, and I have no hope of running that on 7. While it's a great idea, I'm concerned older games ported along won't be essentially playable. I'm talking 90's games, like Future Cop L.A.P.D, Thunderstrike 2: Firestorm, etc.

I would say, yes, please, lots of console ports - but put some work into it.
As console ports go, this one is pretty lazy.
When I get a PC game that has no GFX settings besides AA and resolution, I know they ♥♥♥♥ed up. Hard. There's just no love in it.

I still like the game very much, but it could have been so much better with real determination to make it work properly.
Sadly, this is a problem with many (if certainly not all) ports.

Personally, I want 6 in this queue. Fires of Liberation is the Ace Combat game I started out with, and I don't feel right without Shamrock as my wingman anymore.

Guts is just a very meh replacement.

Here's an online petition if anyone interested in wanting Ace Combat 6 on PC and PS3.

Though a petition doesn't guarantee response from publishers and developers , but I think it's worth trying. Who knows what plan they have for this series ;)

All I want is for Namco to make an Ace Combat HD Collection with at least 04, 5, and Zero. They could add in X and 6 into the mix if they wanted.

If they can't do that, then at least port 6 over. It's much better than ASSault Horizon.

Also has online multiplayer mode like X, X2, Infinity,....and ACAH (without the DFM, of course).
I hope next year Namco will give us news about future Ace Combat release on PC.

As well as online multi, I'd also like to see:
-Achievements
-Maybe some extra planes added (I personally want to see the XFA-27 and its 4 missile capability in 04, the ADA-01 Adler and the SDBM readded for 5, and maybe another fictional airplane for 6).
-Modability for us PC players so we could add extra things such as custom missions or aircraft. This one might be extremely difficult if not impossible for an HD Collection though, and would probably be better off for a PC release of a possible Ace Combat 7 (if Namco wants to return to Strangereal, which is much better than an overused real-life Earth setting).
