Windows 8.1 crash after launch. "AC:AH has stopped working."
I searched everywhere trying to fix this. To go into more detail, what happens is the game crashes right after I click "play" in steam, and I get the message, "Ace Combat: Assault Horizon has stopped working." There isn't anything more detailed to help diagnose the issue. This does NOT appear to the the same error as "Failed to create Direct3D Device or initialize Games for Windows LIVE: "
Windows 8.1 x64 - a relatively fresh install, and I ONLY use this PC for gaming. Pretty standard hardware - i5 4670k and HD 7950.
The most common suggestion i have seen was to uninstall all GFWL pieces and then reinstall it with the link from the xbox live site. I have tried this as well as just removing GFWL altogether. I have verified the game cache in steam, and also tried re-downloading and installing the game anyway. Also tried manually installing directx and visual studio from the game's support files. Same thing happened every time.
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
