Read: You purchased a Game for Windows live version from Steam in the OPs post.
Unless... you don't care about save files, then simply go with CASE 2: You purchase Ace Combat Assault Horizon Enhanced Edition between February 24th and April 1st
If you have a GFWL version, you just need to log on to GFWL servers to do the update, once it is done (game update + Achievement/save compatibility update) switch to Steam according to the procedure in the sticky post.
What?! No, you have a version that is using GFWL with an overlay from Steam by default. Just launch Ace Combat Assault Horizon the way it is to make sure, it's using the newest version of GFWL (probably is, if you were running it in the last few weeks). After you do that, you do a switch to Steamworks:
- You go to your Steam library (the places, from where you can download any game, you've purchased - not the website).
- You right click on ACE COMBAT™ ASSAULT HORIZON Enhanced Edition and choose Properties.
- You go to a Betas tab.
- You choose Acah-2.0 - NO-GFWL.
- Click close. Wait for the update to download.
- Then you launch the game and import saves from GFWL.
That's it - it's easy.
It means, that with this update the game is no longer using GFWL for its achievements, for multiplayer etc. And since it's Steam - it also means, CD Key and any additional registration is not required (unless you register a retail version on Steam). It's only my assumption, but I'm pretty sure you'll be able to buy the game again from April 1st, 2014 when the current "beta update", is going to be applied permanently to every Steam copy of the game.
- The Voice Chat is permanently on. Push-to-Talk is an important feature that I strongly recommend to implement. Otherwise the Multiplayer will mostly consist of background noises.
- When in a lobby, a button reads 'Show Gamer Card' instead of something like 'Show Steam profile'.
- A text chat would be great too
Agree. Adding Push-to-Talk and furthermore making it a default setting is something, I'd like to see very much.
