This game was released on the wrong platform
The best part of the PC is that it doesn't have to build around a crappy input system. The worst part about AVWW2 is that it just doesn't get that. Instead they force you to use a gamepad by making you want to slam your head repeatedly into a wall if you don't. Why do this to your players? AVWW2 has so much potential, don't torpedo your own game to satisfy elitists.

It controls just fine with keyboard. So far I've been playing for nearly 2 hours (currently playing right now) and have had absolutely zero problems with controls. All this moaning and complaing is baffleing me. Although I guess its just a matter of opinion. It does get getting used to if you previously played AVWW1, once you get used to it, the aiming, controls, movement, everything is fine.

I have to disagree - the PC has always suffered from poor controls for platformers. Thankfully, the ease of use that modern gamepads have has mostly crushed that. If you're a gamer and you don't have multiple input devices at the ready when playing a wide variety of games... you're a poser.

Do you use the keyboard for flight games? Hells no. You have a flight stick or you GTFO.

With that logic, people who play fighting games without a fighting stick are also only posers. And stamping that in order to play this game to any extent you need to buy external equipment which 99% of games do not need, but is not included with the game is NOT acceptable in any scenario. Blanketing that with an excuse that I should already have the equipment doesn't suddenly make it acceptable.

Your attempted insult aside, look at a game like Cave Story+. That's a game that is easily played on the keyboard and doesn't make me want to gouge my face in frustration to do BASIC things. Its control is intuitive and thus I like it. Most 2D platformers operate with these similar controls.

This game is not Cave Story. It's controls are awkward, clunky, and seemingly intentionally difficult. I suppose this can contribute to the hundreds of hours I poured into AVWW, but I doubt it, because I don't have this problem with other PC platformers. Only this game.

What do you feel is specifically the issue with the keyboard controls? I've mostly been playing with the gamepad. The little bit I played with the keyboard, it seemed pretty similar to Cave Story+. Maybe I'll give the keyboard controls a little more time this week to see how they feel.

The game in itself is pretty easy and straightforward, + it's pretty easy to deal with those controls when you are used to old school FPS(Q3A ftw). It doesn't make the gameplay good, it's cheesy boring as hell. Imho the designers have to keep it like that(not good) and aim for a better sequel with more polish(graphics, nuances, references), a real gameplay(with mb some arcade feeling), more diversity(patterns, minibosses, bosses more rewarding) and more energy. While also refining the non action phases with more real tatctical things and maybe more RPG elements(even boring ones) with for example skilltrees or mmorpg style quests(this guy in that title wants me to bring him 3 minibosses' "pubic hair" for 120 scraps ^^)

@ZZZappy: You don't need a stick to play versus games, some characters in some games are indeed better played with sticks(because of mainly "just frame links")

it's fact to use binds with the same hand you move around while not ♥♥♥♥ing up necessarily your acceleration(because there is always that acceleration to take into acount in q3a ^^)

but yes you are right it was ♥♥♥♥♥♥ to talk about an old school fps here xd.
