The legend is back - in HD!
+++ My favorite feature in the game is the HD + free zoom combo. This makes the game playable on modern displays without any hassle. AFAIK, even though there are mods that add widescreen support to the original, zoom is a feature unique to the Enhanced Edition.
++ The other great feature in EE is the inclusion of all of the Baldur's Gate II class kits to the original BG. (It should be mentioned that here have been mods that do that for years.) Those kits are extremely unbalanced and extremely fun (though many blossom only in BG2).
+ There are a few new NPCs to spice things up. They are all right.
+ There is some arena-like feature called "the Black Pit" that I didn't bother to try.
+ BG1 was and remains a great game.
- The original BG was the first Inifinity Engine game, and Bioware had still not achieved their full potential. One can see this clearly while playing. A lot of the areas you explore are a half-empty; a lot of the quests are pedestrian; the pacing of the main plot is erratic; the story is bland; the dialogues are silly; the NPCs are not fully fleshed out; the items are weak; and so on. In short, everything that made BG2 so great is imperfectly implemented in BG1.
Great classic, solid remake, 9/10 recommended.
