Keeping gear from tutorial.
If you've played the tutorial, you might find that all you'll keep after starting a new game is the Identify scroll and maybe some short swords. I just found a way to actually keep that longsword +1, leather armor +1 and all the fine loot.
Directly after the new game launches and you're in front of the inn, pause and drop everything on the ground. Go inside or something, return and you will find everything is still there. Pick it all up and it will stay in your inventory.
I thought some of you might like this, because it gives you a nice headstart...

This is the same tactic to use when BG2 comes out after importing your character over. The screen will go black. Pause immediately and go to inventory. Dump all your gear from your character and inventory onto the ground. Go back to the black screen by pressing G and unpause. Your character will gasp and fall to the ground..........

Rest omitted for those who don't know the story.
