I still have the same problem of the intro movie stuttering with the sound and steam overlay still not working correctly at first. as far as i got so far.

update your graphics drivers. that's what I did and now the game works perfectly. follow the directions on this link. should work as long as your core is one of the compatible ones.

I don't have intel drivers but thanks anyways bud. nvidia 9800 gt and i'm all up to date.

I'm on a GTS250 (actually a renamed 9800gtx) and driver version 306.97 works fine with me.

turn off steam overlay, there was somewhere it told me not to use it, after i turned it off i had no problems. also check the main site of beamdog, theres a forum that gives a list of things to do to fix problems, mine was as simple as adding in a options line directly into the baldur.ini file
